Cannot replace the bulb unless you have H4 conversion. We have sealed beams, which are 200mm i believe.

yeah you have to stick with sealed beams.. unless you upgraded to some H4's if you want some good bright selaed beams then look into some cool blues from GE... there a bit more costly but one of the best lights you can get without going H4... in fact i still have my set sitting in storage lol

when i got my car it only had stock...then i upgraded to silverstar sealed lights and i thought it was really good improvement...now i have the Autopal H4 lights that are DOT aproved and they are supper nice...if you want something nice get the H4...my kit only cost like 48 bucks...and its worth it. then later you can always upgrade to HID

h4 is ftw. jap cars come frm japan with sealed beams. and i laughed so hard when ppl replace a sealed with a sealed. I allways steal some h4 bulbs frm a nz new accord and buy some nice high quality white but no too white ones.

theyre not that bad, a lot better than the sealed bulbs. plus they kinda make a cool light pattern on the road/tree/whatever, not like real projectors, but still cool.

i would stay away from the ebay projector lights

why is that? is that because the picture could be wrong and you get something different in the mail?

itzdave

i got what was in the pic, but they are definately not 'real' projectors, just mainly a cheap h4 upgrade, with a little lense that changes the light pattern a little.

I had the Silverstar sealed beams In mine when I still had it, they were a large improvement over the stock lights in either of the 3rd gens I had.

On this subject, if you look around at the JY for the eighties vintage cars that came with these 6054 ights you can find some that have plastic housings. With those you can put in or make whatever kind of light system you want. I used to look for those to put strobe bulbs in.
they look the same as the glass ones, but thump them with your finger and you can tell the plastic ones. You can use plastic windshield polish to keep them nice and clear.

if you do the H4 lights also do the relay upgrade under the hood, they pull more current and the factory switch is already on the edge of overload. especially on the early hatches, since the switches are no longer made you don't want to burn up one. summit racing sells these kits if you don't know how to wire them yourself. they take battery current and run it directly from the battery to the lights, and the factory switch only controls the relays, not the high current anymore.

Do any of you with the h4 conversions have trouble with water getting in your housings?? I put some on a firebird I had, with flip up lights, and the housings filled up with water.

Thanks
Chris

No i do not have a problem with water in my lights. You must have had cheap lights or you didn't install the seal correctly.

I have Ebay fake projectors with no leaks. When I opened them I was suprised how well they were built. the headlight has no plastic at all. the front is glass and the housing is like ceramic or something. its weird. The hids were off ebay also. pretty sweet. $100 for headlights and hids. Ill see how long they last.

H4 with HID FTW!

make sure the bulbs run at like 55watts or else you will fry the wires

86ccord

I did my H4 conversion briefly using cheap Ebay lights which were also made for right hand drive cars. I had water seal problems.

I then found a pair of Sylvania Extra vision sealed beam on sale for $20 in Advance auto so I brought them and also ran my own wires and relay running directly from battery. I'm very happy about it. It is much brighter than the original 35w low beam (Extravision has 55w low beam) and the beam pattern is very nice. No more water problems to deal with.

mine dont have leaking problems, cuz i leave my lights up all the time cuz the little bezel thing is broke and if i try to close them it gets all smashed up and wont close all the way and sticks there.
