does anyone here have a decent timing map for our accord in relatively stock form after they installed the 4g distributor? im going to be needing one for a base map when i setup megasquirt with the EDIS program.

any stock map runs on the a20...i had a pr4 and p06 and they ran fine..but its best to tune asap

I have a megasquirt setup with EDIS right now. Check the FI theory thread to see my timing map. I do have an upgraded cam but it should still be good to start with.

it seems as if you beat me to it... haha, i was going to install megasquirt with EDIS on my car last spring, but i held off cause my motor wasnt done yet. then i had my skyline, and i definitely put the car off for a couple months until now. im pouring my days off into my accord when possible.

im hoping, and i mean HOPING that i can start up my car with no ailments this winter, or possibly spring and get megasquirt up and running for summer. quite the foresight considering im more anxious to fix my skyline for this summer...

im guessing your AFR map is still for an NA engine?

in the simplest form possible regarding the spark table, how did you tune that? and what would determine how much or how little advance you should give a particular cell?

also, when you setup EDIS, what was the base timing supposed to be at?

is there a timing map for either of those ECU's that i can translate over to megasquirt? i need something that i can open with excel or something, not some crazy program i gotta find/crack/buy

Still NA.

The correct way to tune timing is on a loaded dyno. A loaded dyno keeps the wheel speed constant so you can adjust the timing advance for best power at each cell. However it's hella expensive so I haven't done that. Basically what I did was to take the map from an Integra B18A1 and use that as a starting point. I've considered trying to reverse engineer an A20 distributor to get the timing curves, but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. I can't say the map I have now is exactly 'tuned', but I did mess around with it quite a bit by changing things and driving around to see what would happen. But without a dyno you really can't do much other than advancing until you hear pinging and then back off a couple degrees. The map I have should be pretty safe, but I would still take it easy the first time out and listen for pinging.

If you setup the trigger ring as it would be on a stock Ford, the base timing is 10 BTDC. This means that if the ignition module got no signal from the ECU it would default to 10 degrees. This gives it a limp home mode if something goes wrong. Although if something goes wrong with the Megasquirt you really aren't going anywhere unless you can fix it. So you will definitely want to carry a laptop with you all the time at first. Once you start messing with Megatune though you will WANT to have a laptop all the time just to watch the gauges. :D

Also wanted to say, once the EDIS is setup you just plug in whatever advance you want and that's what you get. I think you can even do negative timing if you wanted to (not sure why you would though). And I think it's good for at least 50 degrees BTDC.

I would be interested in seeing the maps for those too, just for comparison.

I don't know what MS hardware you're running, but I can export my tables or even the whole config file if you want. And if you have any other questions about configuration or whatever just let me know.

ive already got the trigger ring installed there, and im waiting until probably summer next year to start the whole project up again. as far as the sensor mounting goes, do you have a picture of it mounted on the car? also, when the sensor passes a tooth, is it reading from the beginning of the tooth, middle of the tooth, or end of the tooth? i know that when it senses a tooth it produces a signal, but when is it first sensed and noticed?

The trigger point is at the zero crossing of the signal which corresponds to the center of the teeth.
