Got my spare B2K5 B20A gearbox apart today and started installing the Quaife ATB LSD.

For future reference the Browntop ZC, A20A and B20A gearboxes share the same diff as all open diff b series gearboxes (cable or hydro) Except B18C/R. The quaife LSD i have is for an EG6. Shares the same 10X130 ring gear bolt pattern as many other b series hondas.

Started off by undoing the bolts and the bung on the end and prying apart the circlip to get the top casing off.

Then after that i removed the two gear shafts keeping them together so i dont have to fuck around assembling 78345238945 gears/bearings again. Since im only swapping the diff.

now i have the diff out i can swap the crown wheel from the POS open diff to the new LSD

its easy. providing you dont pull all the gears off the shafts it all slides back together like so

The old axles were a bit "Used" The boots were ripped and one outer had excessive play. So i put my spare axles in.

I must have done something right. The car drives flawlessly and when powering around a corner theres no more one wheel understeering action!

Hai chaps. Did some work on this today. My mate was ordering some bushes for various cars he has from the USA so i got in and told him to get me a shifter bushing kit, swaybar endlink kit and a "Strut rod" kit. All polyurethane bushes from energy suspension.

Both Lower control arm inner bushes are completely fucked. Metal on metal spec with bugger all rubber left on them. Wish i looked under the car before i ordered the bushings.

AccordB20A
10-06-2013, 09:23 PM
Haha. cant see a reason to remove them. The axles are stock 250,000kms items still from a parts car. The car feels better to drive with the bushigns but im sure the lower control arm ones will help too haha

Dr_Snooz
10-10-2013, 06:47 PM
Haha. cant see a reason to remove them.

It's not that you choose to remove them. You simply choose not to spend a couple hours getting axle goop all over your shop just so you can swap them over to your new aftermarket axles that came without them. That's how mine disappeared anyway.

AccordB20A

yeah stock 250,000km ones from my old accord. they are black. the red is rusty from the metal on metal action.

got a parts car today. a 2.0Si exclusive model with the leather seats etc. Since the interior colour is the same as the f1 edition interior i can use bits off this to tidy up the missing and broken bits i have that annoy me daily.

Heres some pics of the car after the guy dropped off today. Pretty rough but good.

AccordB20A
12-31-2013, 03:38 AM

Nerxt step is swapping the dashboard with an unmolestered one and installing the exclusive door cards

AccordB20A

Instead of swapping the dash today i decided to quickly bang on the front lip. I took some pics and im not 100% happy. i think its sits too high. i need to substitute my spacers with something solid that doesnt compress when the bolts are tightened lol.

Anyways here we go.

Calabek
01-02-2014, 05:26 PM
I think you're right about how it coves the silver on the bottom of the bumper, why not use thick steel washers and just pack a few of them in there?
That way you could get a more precise fit. I'm sure you could buy them from any hardware store relatively cheaply, too~! :)

The gfs accord ran out of rego so it was parked on the lawn for 2 weeks. up to then it was running fine. didnt use a drop of oil or water always ran PERFECT. Then she put rego on it and went to use it again but straight away it had a missfire. ran like ass and used all the coolant in the radiator. pushed it all out the overflow. and put the rest into the oil. FOR NO REASON

Well there is a reason actually. When i bought the car it had been sitting for a couple of years with rusty water in the radiator. it had obviously corroded away at the head gasket and fucked it over time. and when it sat for 2 weeks it gave up for good. even tho i had flushed the cooling system 500 times after i bought it to get rid of the rust from it.

So now im doing a head gasket on the ol girl. I thought while im at it ill change all of the other bits as well so i have ordered as cambelt, tensioner, water pump. complete head set so ill change all the sea;s etc. i got a new fuel filter and O2 sensor for it also.

pics part one. removing the head and inspecting the problem:

Yep, Honda Nelson wanted $57 for a rubber front brake hose, A set of 4 stainless braided hoses is $43 US on Ebay with free 48 states shipping.

Ship everything to a mate in FL, send him cash for a USPS flat rate International box and it's cheaper to get a whole boxload of $5 and $10 parts than cost $20 and $35 here.

Haven't been keeping very up to date with this lately. But today i installed my new lower control arms that i fitted new bushes into. Heres sum pix:

While i was there i also installed some old school bendix metal brake pads in the front and lubricated the caliper slides. Big improvement. The pads i took out were branded silverline and were absolute SHIT! They have been in there like 80,000kms and still looked like new when removed.

You got some good filings out of it though LOL. What did you have to drill out?

I have to get some harder pads on my car. I have so much trouble with cementite.

Its been a long time since i have updated this thread, The gfs grey car has yet another engine swap. im trying to make it good on fuel but this 9km / liter shit is pissing me off. Ive decided its time to do an OBD1 swap i think.....

AccordB20A
10-12-2014, 12:15 AM
And so it starts, The OBD1 swap. My mate had a honda domani with a B18B in his yard which has all the parts i need. The B18B dizzy indirectly fits the B20A and since the wiring in the accord is fail, im gunna use the body loom from the domani to make a stand alone loom to run the EFI on its B20A Im gunna merge the B20A and B18B engine looms also.

I stripped the whole domani pretty much to grab the bits i needed. The ECU is even factory chipped so i can socket it and use that to run the B20. heres a few pics
