Well, I finally got around to putting the pictures from my camera onto my computer. I also stole my brother camera and made a video of it today. Enjoy!

The guy doing all the cutting and welding in the pics is my dad.

I doubt you really want it. It doesn't work anymore for one, and I also cut off the flange that connects to the downpipe and used it on the new exhaust.

lol sorry I forgot that you had dibs on it. Like I said I had to cut a flange off of it, but if you still want it it's yours.

ps. thanks forrest, hopefully it sounds even better when I get the 38 weber in it later this week or early next week. All I'm waiting on now is an air/fuel gauge to show up in the mail.

Which a/f gauge did you get? Wideband I'm assuming?

It's just a narrowband gauge for now so that I can get the weber on there and running. I'll upgrade to wideband when I can afford it, but I spent most of my money on the new exhaust.

yeah It was awesome having my dad help me. Saved me a lot of money, and considering that a muffler shop would have built it pretty much the same way. Only difference was the welder used probably. muffler shop would've used mig or tig. My dad did it all with stick!

I actually bought all of my parts off of ebay. Including the mandrel bent stainless steel.
here's the muffler.

I didn't pay that much for mine. I think I best offered 80 or something like that.
As for the cat. I got a really good deal on it. payed 30 for it new. :)

haha. I was something like 34 degrees when I shot the video. It was a lot colder when we were actually building it though. On one day it was more like 26. :Owned:

Not really noticably faster or anything, but I don't have headers yet so that's probably where I'm being robbed.

I just got back from the dr. and I'm back to normal after 2 months. My hand is a little sore, but nothing major. Lets make some plans for a meet. I also put a thermometer in my garage...it's 56 degrees in there. Pretty warm for a garage i think. I want to get a heater out there too.

Yeah. My dad bought it for me for christmas. He got it from bow-wow. They're a local performance parts store that specializes in carbs. Mostly webers, and stuff for VW Beetles.

Cool! I've seen those Bow-wow stickers on a lot of VW's around here. They seem to be pretty famous.

Look nice, also seems you needed a new muffler, my Cavalier's muffler has a leak just like that right where the exhaust pipe meets its inlet, sounds like crap but eh, it still muffles... lol

Trevor, do you think your dad would weld me up an exhaust system if I bought all the parts? :)

turabaka
05-06-2008, 11:35 AM
mmm That's kinda iffy. It took me a lot of begging to get him to do it for me. I'll do it for you though, as soon as my dad teaches me how to weld. I'm gonna see if he'll teach me sometime soon since it's warm outside now. I also have about 8 feet of straight 2.25 stainless steel tubing. So if you buy all the bends in stainless you can just use the extra tube that I have.

Write me a list of what I would need. :welcome: I'm going to buy a magnaflow muffler this month and I want to get the exhaust done asap. Did you use a resonator or is that a cherry bomb thing?

turabaka
05-06-2008, 04:16 PM
since you don't have smog you don't need to buy a cat. So buy 2 180* mandrell bends in 2.25 stainless steel. It's a little more expensive for stainless, but it's way worth it. No rust, and you'll be able to use the straight pipe I've got. Then the muffler, and that should do it. For the flange at the cat you can just do what I did, and cut the one off of the old exhaust, or you can buy two new ones.

BITESIZE
05-06-2008, 04:22 PM
Where did you buy the 180* bends? JC whitney? I'll just cut the connector off the cat and weld it to the new pipe. You're talking about the part that bolts to the downpipes flex pipe right?

turabaka
05-06-2008, 05:57 PM
I bought them off of ebay. I'll see if I can find the seller that I got them from because all they sell is exhaust stuff.

edit: Here's the link mandrel bends (http://search.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?GetResult&sass=mandrelbends&_trksid=p3984.m106&_trkparms=algo%3DMESSL%26itu%3DSS%252BSI%26otn%3D2 5%26po%3DOp1%26ps%3D15)
