my 1g was hit by a fucking bike while I'm turning right (RHD, which means I'm crossing the road) into intersection. the traffic coming from that lane stopped since its teh yellow line and the light is red ahead. I couldn't see the fucking bike coming, probably more than 60kmh and hit straight into my quarter panel.

I dont feel like typing much right now... more tomorrow.

its getting fixed, of course! altrough fixing out the quarter won't be easy. finding new replacement panel would be too expensive. don't worry there won't be much bondo there if I can.

yeah it doesn't look that bad, at least there are no frame damage or broken glass althrough I'm pissed that my left rear light broke :(

getting the quarter panel to be flat is going to be tough.

anyway, I bought the control arm (thank God they opens today) for $20. what a rip off lol. I cleaned the surface rusts and repainted it black.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/ullyeus/accord/DSC01319.jpg

almost done sanding the panel. theres a rust spot that need to be taken care of. I have no idea how i missed that in the last paintjob!? I'm pretty sure the impact somehow broke the old rusted weld.

looks good, you know that is an old school skill to do a panel that large with bondo and dinging it out. These days they would sooner cut out the damage and mig in a patch especially on that contour body line area.
Blood Sweat and Tears is a good way to describe that kind of mud blocking, and bondo boogers. LOL.. nice work HAZ

I guess they work just like how they supposed to be, but in this case, we just call it an accident and forget it. The other guy is actually at fault, since I have the right-of-way as the traffic coming from that lane stopped to give way to me since the light ahead is red(yellow line in the middle of an intersection, where you aren't supposed to stop in it when the traffic stops. I don't know what is it called in English lol) and he overtake the traffic from the left, instead of the right.

Its not worth the hassle to deal with police and insurance, so yeah, we just call it an accident and forget it :D

BTW, my dad did the painting since I can't trust myself using the spray gun, and don't want to mess thing up. Paint isn't cheap! The only thing that I paint myself is the wheels, the black part near the door pillar thinggy, and the front lip. I just can't get the setting right and always have heavy orange peel. Its alright with smaller stuffs though.

I did the bondo work all by myself, just like the last paintjob. Far from being perfect, but I'm quite pleased with the result.

All the way to the A-pillar

I think the paint looks slightly darker. Its not very noticeable, but it really bothers me.

What puzzled me is, the paint 100% matches the fuel lid, where I simply put a layer of clear on it. Either the clear is slightly darker, or the paint isn't fully cured yet? Anyone has any idea??

2ndGenGuy
02-01-2008, 08:13 PM
Maybe your paint is semi-transparent to some degree and the slightly darker primer is making a difference? Kinda like how when you paint a bright color, sometimes you lay down a coat of white under it to make the color really pop out. Since your color is kinda bright, that might be the case. Though, hell if we can tell. You might just be a picky bastard. ;)

Some pigments are photereactive and maybe it will lighen up once it cures good. You could try color sanding (1200 or Ult Fine grit wet) it, in about a week or two, down the whole side. Then clear coat the whole side.

If the blend area was nice and tapered, that should help. BUT. I have seem some silver and gunmetal shades get worse after that.

Actually the color seems to be lighter now, I don't know if my eyes is playing with me, but everyone I asked said the color is 100% matching now. Even my dad said its slightly darker yesterday. I guess yes, the color will be lighter as it cures.

I'm guessing the clear is what effecting the color since the fuel filler lid is only cleared on once, no color at all, and its perfectly matching the quarter.

I really hope the color will go lighter as the time goes, or else I might redo the whole side. Damn, I'm a picky bastard lol

I still need to replace the black bumper cover and the side trim.
