Just found this forum, I've got an 89 LX with 136K miles, 2" catback with off brand muffler. 8.5mm wires, NGK plugs. Car has the "runaway idle" issue that I've read about. Hopefully a new carb will take care of it. Just wanted to introduce myself, and I'm from VA by the way.

Welcome to the board. What kind of carb are you going for? stock carb, or weber?

didnt see the newbie intro section. anyways I pulled a stock carb off a 88 LX today so hopefully it will work, or I can make 1 work properly out of the 2. Aftermarket carbs are too expensive for these A series engines.

$229.95 ON MOST CARBURETORS 1981 AND UP

thats not too bad really, but for a stock equivalent, price is about the same for what I've seen. I'm gonna read into the vacuum line removal and maybe it will help. I despise the black box very much. Just look at a stock carbed A20, that box is the most noticable thing under the hood.

if not power, then atleast gain some driveability. I think the secondary on my stock carb is messed up cause after a certain point in throttle, idle will surge to 3-3200 and if I'm driving and it happens, the car will cut off within a minute. gotta just sit and wait for a minute, then it'll start back up and run no problem unless I floor it again.
