For the sake of a new Cam I need to know the Final Drive for my transmission. Here is what I know:
from 82-83 Honda Accord
Cable Clutch / 5 speed
Canadian Car
Code: GK - 5708206
I know the gearing is not too high but never looked into the specs ?????

Well, I don't know if all the GK trannys are the same or not, but here's the specs for a 1981 GK Hydraulic Tranny:
3.181 - 1st
1.944 - 2nd
1.291 - 3rd
0.928 - 4th
0.774 - 5th
4.214 - Final Drive
Damn, no wonder my gears feel so short.

The ratios were supposed to be a little cruisier for the 2nd Gen Accord.
But I think Honda would also move all the ratio's around some years with final drive down & everything else up to compensate giving a similar end result.
A list I found was:
'79 Accord & Prelude 1602/1750cc
1st 3.181
2nd 1.842
3rd 1.200
4th 0.896
5th 0.718
Final drive 4.384:1
'81 Accord Quint(et) Prelude
1st 3.181 3.181 3.181
2nd 1.944 1.944 1.842
3rd 1.291 1.291 1.291
4th 0.928 0.928 0.928
5th 0.774 0.774 0.774
Final drive 4.071 4.071 4.214
'82 Accord Quint(et) Prelude JDM spec
1st 3.181 3.181 3.181
2nd 1.944 1.944 1.842
3rd 1.250 1.291 1.200
4th 0.896 0.928 0.896
5th 0.741 0.774 0.718
Final drive 3.866/4.071* 4.071 4.214
*depending upon model 1602/1750cc etc.
though that only confuses things further since I cannot remember all the details of my sources to properly confirm them, & info seemed to go in all directions with the later years, models & markets.

Yeah... I brought my 81 up to about 80mph today. First time I've had it over 65. The engine was revving between 3800-4000rpm. I dunno if I'll be doing any high speed cruising in it or not. The 84 is quite comfortable at 80mph, even with the Prelude tranny in it. Quite an amazing contrast. If my friend can get his '83 running, it will be interesting how that's geared.

Yeah, I've been there. You think the little EK1 is maxed out at 80MPH. The RPM's are screaming at 80 MPH. I would not recommend a cross country trip at over 65 MPH in an 81 Accord. My 84 feels like it is getting close to maxed out at about 80 MPH, but I have automatics in mine...

The early 2geez [manual] got highway gearing also. My 82 will run 70 in 4th at around 3700rpm. 85 in 5th with plenty of motor to spare. Since thats where my speedo stops I've never tried to top it out. Maybe i'll get a g-tech one day and test it out. I'm fairly confident it'll easily run past 100.

Just for interest,
Road & Track magazine roadtest in '79 listed top speed as 106MPH @ 4800rpm in fifth for a US. EK sedan. (just one test I spotted)
Not sure offhand how hatches / Automatics or other other engines varied.
