CLEAN!

I wonder why it has no bids?

Starting bid is rather high.

It's got a lot of miles on it. It's a Honda, but those cars blew head gaskets like crazy.

81 is when Honda sorted out a lot of problems with the 1G Accord.

It isn't an LX, which shouldn't really matter.

Seller feedback isn't over 99%.

It does look good. It'll be interesting to see if anyone bids.

I think I saw this exact car a few months back. They're probably setting their price where it is based on the recent crop of super-clean 1g Accords on eBay. Been seeing them going for $3000+. But all the other ones claim to have less than 100,000 on the engines. I don't know how much I'd believe that every single clean one that pops up on eBay is under 100,000 miles. Won't really know though because of the 5 digit odometer. This is the first I've seen with admittedly over 200,000 on it.

I noticed too, that any car before 1980 seems to go for more than the 80 or 81 models. I think a lot of that might have to do with the fact that it says it's a "70's" car, even if the 80 and 81 are improved and look nearly identical...

Cool to see a base model with A/C though. I guess in Arizona, that's pretty necessary though.

About the speakers, does anybody know if the Honda OEM speaker covers are those weird rectangular covers with the holes in them?

Yes I remember seeing it advertised before too, especially since its the same colour as mine.

Still seems strange North America & Japan changed their wheel styling twice while the rest of the world stayed with the original throughout !

Glad the EL's engines don't seem to share the headwarping-cracking problems the EK's do.

Funny he claims the door trims have been redone but the boot carpets original, both wrong -'79 carpet being ginger with patterning through it & not 'plush pile' - more like the patterning on the lower edge of the door. (need to replace mine which might be a challenge to match -if I bother).

Yes as far as I know the Factory optional Accessory / LX rear quarter speaker covers were those rectangular items with the big tapering round holes -& they go chalky & desintegrate in sunlight. With no speakers fitted in the doors.
The metal backing for the rear Quarter trim vinyl is already pre-cut to allow for them on all models (at least post '78 models).

WTF Honda dealer redid that thing? They spent all that money and time restoring it, but there is a brake light out (Or a brake light sensor)? I would never have taken that pic. with the brake light out indicator lit up. I can understand if it's a sensor tricking the dashlight icon and they couldn't get parts for it!

hmm, i think the next car i buy is going to be from arizona. they always have clean cars there. with low to no humidity, its not wonder. that is a great little accord.

Hehe it does keep down the rust, but the interior and paint is usually hammered. UV rays are just as bad as water.

I'd take rust free body over mint interior/paint.

Fixing the interior/respray is a whole lot easier than fixing the rusts. :)

hmm, maybe a garage kept car? that would be ideal to look for. even here where i live you still have to worry about rust when the cars are garaged. not so bad though as if you leave it outside.
