I am planning on swapping my 87 hatch to a 5 speed, now I found a 5 speed car that is selling pretty cheap that is really rough, but its worth the money for all the parts for the swap, now the problem is the guy is telling me the car has a 1.6 engine in it... mine has 2.0 i believe, will the transmission still fit my 2.0 (a20a)....???

Thanks
Marshall

Honda didn't offer anything but a 2.0L in the 3rd Gen Accords in America

Is he sure it's a 1.6?

Pics are the only way to tell, ask for engine pics

It's not super hard, just depends on if you have the right tools.

Your gonna need:

Jackstands
2 Floor Jacks (one to hold the trans with)
Torque wrench
Good Socket Set
Breaker Bar
Ball Joint puller
General Stuff of that nature

Others will have to fill in on the Full Trans swap though

It is pretty straight forward as long as you take your time and as Forrest mentioned tools.

Keep a 12 pack of beer available for after your done and your set. It took me a weekend to do mine, and that's having all the parts and know how to do it too. You'll be ok, you have your ol' man helping you. I'd say 4 days and you'll be done.
