5 speed conv. question

ok im going to do a 5 speed conversion and i was wondering if an 86-87 donor car would work with my 89? or would i have to use an 88-89 with my 89?? just making sure...thanks

no the 86-87 ecu is different for the efi cars. its due to the emission upgrades on the 88-89 with two O2 sensors and all that shit.

You can get away with using the same auto ECU but if you want it to be more "factory", you can use an 88 or 89 ECU but the older ones will not work. All the brackets and the tranny itself is the same for all years.

its gonna be one fucking job though. and yeah, if u wanna be on the lazy part, u can bypass the tranny reverse light harness too. ;)

...tell me about it, I'm right in the middle of that project right now. Started last Sat, did more on Sun., and gonna start back up tonight as soon as I get down to the car. I hope to finish it up tomorrow night. Good luck man.
