i am having wierd problem
89 accord lxi
when i am driving the temp goes from half to 3/4 then down to half
even once in a while it will even go down to 1/4 where it should be

my fan is running have it hard wired in
help cant figure it out :wtf: :wtf:

sounds like an air bubble to me. just bleed the system with the valve on the thermostat.

could it be the t stat or water pump?


just not sure it got air bubble has been good for a year and i havent done anything to it?

Bleeding only takes a couple of minutes, so try bleeding it and see if it resolves the issue.

How's your coolant level? If you've let it get low on you you'll introduce air into the system.

if bleeding doesn't work then it might be a clog you might want to drain the system and run some flush through it. Before doing that i would check the thermostat too make sure it opens properly by heating up some water to the temp. the thermostat is rated for (look it up) and then put it in the water if it opens it's good haha just that simple.

If your coolant was low, then you car would run warmer than normal (say at 1/2 instead of 1/4) at low speeds or at idle, but as you start moving, the temp would go down to normal.

If your t-stat was stuck open your car would always run colder than normal until the car sat and idled for a while.

I think these guys are right with the air bubble or low coolant. Try the least expensive fixes first, and then determine if something else needs to be done.
