Pals! i need your advice. I have Accord 86 4 door manual transmission. And i have strange problem with clutch. When car is working can be heard metallic noise (it seems that something is rubbing) from the side of gearbox and clutch.:wtf: if i press the clutch pedal - the sound is gone. I have replaced clutch kits 2 times and each time the same problem! :crying: After each replacement, some days everything is ok -but then it become louder and louder.:dunno: Also the sound is gone if i am trying to "engage" the gear without pressing the clutch pedal ( looks like i am trying to stretch the gear). I have 2 manual transmissions -the problem is still present on both of them. Please advise what it can be? I donat think that it `s release bearing and gearbox. Perhaps something wrong with clutch disk?

if its a sprung hub, you may have popped the springs out and theyre in there bouncing around. my prelude did that. or it could be the throwout bearing chattering becuase of wear. other than those its probably your synchros or whatever in the tranny itself.

Did you replace the thow-out bearing when you replaced the clutch? Also make sure the transmission has oil in it as well.

If two transmission's do this, i would look at the throw out bearing.

Can you show me this bearing on the photo? http://www.japancats.ru/honda/details.asp?modelid=05200002&nplid=E6700009&scr=800
I don`t think that it`s the trow-out bearing, because i have replaced him rach time. But i m not sure that my tehnician put grease in bearing....Is it mandatory?

it can also be tranny mainshaft and or countershaft bearings going out

Hey Gres mine is an 88 hatch LX-i F.I. 5 speed and does the same thing you described. Mine only does it when the engine is cold after startup sounds like a "chatter". Yea like something is rubbing. I usually just let mine warm up before takin off and it doesn't do it once warm. Not a clue what it is.

pretty sure this is it. It is non greaseable.

Usually the throw-out bearings make noise when the clutch is engaged, pedal down.

I'm suspecting this is an alignment problem. My first tranny rebuild was a bust because I pinched a dowel pin between the bell housing and block putting the trans back in. It was maybe 1/16" off center, but the trans made a terrific clatter as drive plate bolts hit the block. It also blew oil as I drove down the road. I'd be willing to bet that something is not lined up properly. Unfortunately, you'll have to pull the whole mess again to find out what. Good luck with that. :(

Man that sounds like the input shaft bearings mine does the same when it's cold. I was always told if the noise goes away when pedal is pushed then that is your input shaft bearings. :gun:
