So i got a 88 accord LXi and its pretty cool... but thats besides the point...

It had about 26xxmiles on a rebuild on everything. Now a few months ago when I took it out for a test run after putting in a oil pressure gauge(lol i kno rice) and I suddenly had no 4+5th gear. There was this clicking sound when idling and when it was in gear + on the gas(just to keep speed and flooring it). I checked the tranny fluid and it was black+metallic. Then when it was off I went threw the gears and when i put it into 5th it got STUCK!! I get pissed get it outta 5th and then I parked the car for 4ish months. Id start it up every-now and then just cuz.... Well a few days ago i just sat in it and ran threw the gears messing a round and started it today. Well id didnt hear the clicking at first. Then I drove around the neighborhood and 4th was back and im like so i put it into 5th and its just putting along!! Im freaking out wtf is going on? Should I take the tranny out and see if something is floating around or loose? Or should I just rebuild the tranny completely?? Im soo confused....

Either use 10w30 or Honda MTF. I heard using 20w50 also is fine. I have Honda MTF and it works great. Make sure you get it as full as possible.

yea 10w-30. Had honda's MTF from the dealership(when i said full rebuild i wasnt kidding lol) but one axle went bad and i went cheap and used some napa oil. then.... a few weeks later it happened....

2.5 quarts for the manual transmission--maybe a little more if you had it completely apart. Either way 3 is more than enough.

You can get some 10w30 oil, use that for a bit and then get Honda MTF.

So right now im draining the tranny fluid, and OMG! Sooo much metal shavings. I also got a magnet and stuck it in the rain hole and found a sliver of metal about as long as a large paper clip. Yea i poured some oil in and just let it drain right out(tryn to flush it and soo much black/metal crap. Yea ill prob end up rebuilding my tranny by the next 4 months..... this sucks.. alot... ill have pics of the oil color and the sliver soon....

Crack that transmission open & no telling what else is laying in there. Here is pretty good link on finding a used transmission once you get a job.

I bought the car from a family friend who was makin the car a show car, and had everything redone. Spend a while and shit ton of money doing it. and he has receptes for EVERYthing he bought for the car(a 3ring binder thats full) and there is a receipt for some tranny work, but it doesnt say and it was almost a year ago... And the P.O. has been fighing with the ppl who redid the stuff cuz they werent supposed to give him a warnnty on the stuff they did and he got a 1year/12000 mile one(1 year is up on 5-15 and it still only has 26xxmiles) so yea I dont think they would honor any of their stuff.... so im kinda fucked here...
