Idling Issue....

Well my 89 EXi will usually idle between 800 - 1200 rpm, however when i rev, after a while it will drop down to as low as 200 rpm and then inch its way back up to 800.

Is this a problem with the Idle Control Valve? I talked with 2 mechanics i know and they said that could be the issue, so does anyone know where it is located so i could remove it and check it out, maybe spray some penetrating fluid in it because this problem pops up and goes away.

Alright. I'll take first crack.

EACV is in the front of the intake manifold on the top. It's part #8 below:

You'll need to drain the coolant to remove it. If your problem is intermittent, I'd doubt it's that. But I'm not sure what it could be. Make sure you're using good gas and that you've had a good tune-up recently. You might also consider changing the fuel filter if you haven't recently.

If you can give more detail, when this happens, how the car runs otherwise, etc. I might be able to figure something else out.

If I were you though, I'd take it somewhere to have it diagnosed. Then I'd log back on here and tell us what you learn.

mine did that too, then i crossed the wires 2 the iac, but then it has to have the idle raised, becouse it will idle at the lowest rpm
