Greetings all! I'm new to these forums, so let me introduce myself. My name is Rains. I am just getting into cars, and my first car was an 88 Honda Accord EX-i.

Just picked up this baby for a mere $250 ... lots of potential here, I need to fix the transmission and clutch first before I worry about any performance mods or the appearance.

Basically, there is a big gaping hole in the tranny housing ... Also, the drivers side window needs to have the motor replaced. But aside from that, the engine seems quite sound, the interior is quite well kept, all the power aided functions, like the sunroof, the power windows, mirrors, the pop up headlights are all working well. So guys, what do you think? Worth the $250? Anyone know where I could find a used housing, or the whole transmission?

Definately worth the $250. Doesn't look that bad.

cool good stuff... I'm in Calgary BTW....looked like AB in your pics... I don't know where you are near, but I know the pick n pull here always has lots of accords and ludes, shouldn't be too hard to find yourself a trans.

So, I'd just have to find a third gen prelude manual transmission? Would this be basically a drop in mod, no fabrication required?

I'm asking because I've done a bit of looking for a (accord) trans, and haven't found any that appeal to me yet ... the auto wrecker in town only found two, in BC of all places, and is asking 400 and 500 for them, even thought mileage is unknown, and the one has 30 day warranty, and the other has none ... I might just have to drive up to Calgary or Edmonton, and look around there ...

Yes, 84-87 i think those are the years... those prelude transmissions bolt up with no modifications as they use the same motors as our accords.

would I want the tranny from the 1.8L or the 2.0L prelude? would the 1.8L require any clutch mods?

the 1.8 carb tranny has a smaller flywheel and pressure plate. but the 2.0 will bolt up even with the accord flywheel
