Which ECM?

I have a 1987 LXi from California with Manual Transmission and need an ECM. My question is: Does it matter if it is an ECM from an Automatic Transmission? Will any 1986 or 1987 ECM work whether from a DX or LX?

I know the Cali emission ECU is different. One thing for sure, you need one from an 88 or 89 LX-i.

I don't think it matters if it's from a manual but the ECU does know when you're in "D" on an automatic and might adjust the idle accordingly.

Since you're manual, the Auto ECU should work.
