i was at the junk yard and i spotted a carbed accord, but to make this quick, the dx has a 2 "to" 1 exauhst manifold vs a lxi have 4 "to" 1 manifold. so wouldnt a quick swap for someone whose in need of quick cheap horse power make this transition. COULDNT it be a 3-4 hp gaine?

its possible for "THOSE INDIVIDUALS"

The 86-87 had a 4-1 design while the 88-89 had a 4-2-1 design. The dual O2 sensors are a dead giveaway of this.

I'm under the impression that the models without cats have a 4-2-1, and the ones with it have a 4-1 manifold.

At least with the EDM b20a's it's that way...

I might be wrong tho.

all cars in the US have cats though

if you hook-up an LX-i manifold on a carbed Accord, you'll lose the Air Suction Valve and might not pass emissions.

You could always try to hook it up to the second O2 port or something. If you don't have emission testing where you live this might be worth it. If you do have emissions, buy the Pacesetter header.

Hang on, so does the LXi manifold out-flow the LX? I've got an '88 LX here, with a Weber 32/36 on it.

yeah, since the lxi would be a 4-2-1, but you prolly wouldnt feel anything... not worth i thnk, jus get a pacesetter header and your set...

True, but considering (IIRC) the LXi has 120hp vs 98hp for the LX, I'd be happy to get my LX up to that level for minimal cash ;) This is something I can yank at the U Pull It for cheap.

youre still not gonna get even close to that.. the lxi is efi and also has a slightly higher cr thats where you see the gains...but go ahead and try and let us know wat u feel...

all of you guys i have to say "WOW" to. lol, lots of different opinions. but the reasons for the different hp gains with the lx, lxi was i think for one the automatic lxi has a greater emmisions than the earlier models. two o2 sensors idl air control valves. etc. but i though it was because of the larger intake manifold from the auto matic lxi model. i changed the intake manifold from the 89 modle thinking ima get a big hpgain but all i got was more throttle(you could see in my vids) and probably some more hp but couldnt tell.

but i felt that the exhaust manifold was a 2 to 1 because each port goes directly into 2 and not 4 seperate ports, before merging to the down pipe to 2.
