well at least two of them, have to locate two more, these are from a 94 geo prism, they just need some minor work to make the center hole bigger, and some paint, and of course to get rid of the geo logo in the middle. it's painted on not cast. i need to take maby a 32nd out of the center, going to machine it off, but it could be done with a flap wheel and die grinder if needed. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/lostforawhile/S4020352.jpg

wasn't there Honda oem wheels like that for 3gen Accord? I was looking at the old brochures for all the wheels available back then.

Those will look pretty good on your car. I've been eying a set of Kia wheels for my car for a while.

i'm thinking of having monkey make decals like the original accord script and using that for a paint mask on the centers when i paint them . they would look almost factory yet they really aren't

They look alright as is but, i think they would look better if you didnt use the center cap. As for painting them thats your choice. They look nice now and gun metal might also look good, but how about painting they "eyes" black. You know black out the centers in between each spoke. Just an idea

I'd like them with gold inner spokes. To each his own.

On your car, though, the gold spokes would look like poo.

I think they look good...a little different, but they will show off a lot better than stock! Why not run them without center caps, and use anodized lugs from like Mackin Industries...?

yep for sure, duplicolor wheel paint FTW, use the clear that goes with it, that stuff really makes a nice job.

does anyone know if the rear hub wheel bearing can be removed? i need to make an adaptor to machine out those center holes, and i need to get the bearing out of an old rear hub. have to chuck up the entire rim in the lathe so i can take around a 32nd out of each center hole.

lostforawhile
04-12-2008, 08:36 PM
oh i did finally get the bearing out, well sort of. the center part of the bearing cannot be removed. ball bearings and bearing centers can,but not the race the ball bearings roll in. it was a son of a bitch machining that bearing part to get this heavy tube through it. oh i think i'm going flat black on the wheels with graphite cutouts

here is the flat black part, i can't do the cutouts for a week paint takes that long to cure before i can mask it properly. yea i know the tire is painted,it's just a crappy tire from the yard. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/lostforawhile/S4020360.jpg

what do you need me to do? i think the center could be made bigger with a flap wheel on an air grinder, i just have the use of the lathe handy. as far as the paint it's a do it yourself thing. it would be much eaisier and cheaper for you to do it then to pay shipping both ways for 4 wheels. if you were local i would be able to help you much eaisier.

^Yeah its better to do it on a lathe anyway. If you dont, you have to be very careful not to remove too much metal in one spot or the wheel will be out of balance.

I was just wondering lost, but I did talk to a buddie that has a set just like that, and I called the local fab shop and the said it's like $25.00 a wheel to get it machined down, so I guess i'll just try and get a set of integra mesh wheels....

ok more is done, i had to end up going from 1.065 to 2.010 as far as the machining. ended up needing more then i though initially. here is the first one bored out.

oh the wierd double exposure effect is caused by the fact the camera is in a box with a lexan plate, the reflections off of the lexan plate are what appears in the back ground, you can actually see the inside of the box if you look close. i normally close the back of it but left it open in this case.

thanks, that duplicolor wheel paint is so tough i've had to hand sand it off the lip, then polish it back up, it's almost like powder coat in a can. going to possibly go and look for two more this wekend. shouldn't be hard to find, just have to get the time to do it. i was really concerned about the wheel holder coming out of the lathe, but it held, thats a LOT of inertia spinning right there. i've seen pieces of thin wall tube fly out of there and bounce off the backstop. little bit nerve racking.
