Hello all, first post, first honda, all that good stuff. Long time vw driver and mechanic, always had a soft spot for honda's tho. After blowing up my 5th vw decided to try something different.

Picked up a 1989 Honda Accord DX coupe, 5 speed, A20, 179k miles for $850. Perfect working order, and bone stock except for what i could change and remove for free. Body has a few dents and scrapes but w/e.

Prolly gonna spend most of my time on here lurking until i learn enough about 3rd gen accords to post without sounding retarded.

:)

Thanks guys. Long time forum user so I know how annoying it is when new people come in and ask things that have been answered millions of times. I love search functions!

Had a really hard time finding a place for info on my accord till i ran across this board. Really glad its here, honda-tech didnt have much on 3rd gens.

Always been a real "homegrown" type of modder, love the cheap or free mods, already done a few but still searching for some more.

I'll try and get the obligatory stock pics up tomorrow for eventual build-up thread or somethin.

That's definitely true - I've found massive amounts of info here about the 3G accord, and I was able to find most of it by searching rather than asking questions!

wow dude your engine bay looks all clean and sparkly! What's up with that? Don't you know it's supposed to look really dirty so that the rest of us don't feel so bad for having dirty engine bays. lol. Just kidding.

Epic hose fail....

Pretty clean engine bay has coolant all over it now :(

Found this after the steam cleared from my engine bay, wondering if a (at the time) cracked coolant hose = not enough pressure could have been causing the bogging i was getting in second gear?

Was less than a block away from my house when the steam started flyin. after this guy blew i got severe bogging at the bottom of 1st - 3rd, not just second.

Yes that is a bottle of pickle relish hiding behind the computer.

update:
car's head most likely has more warp than the starship Enterprise. Also managed to mess up the passenger side of the car, so now the drivers side with the dented fender and rear panel looks better than the passenger side. He's undrivable right now, and i'll be sourcing parts. Hella not my day!!!!

Car is running again. Somehow managed to not blow the gasket or warp the head when it overheated so bad. topped of levels, spent several hours last night and this afternoon bleeding the cooling system, and it drives just as well as it did before! I'm back! Back in blaaaack (gold acually)
