Today 86AccordLXSdn came over with his 86'. We flushed out his brake system with new Valvoline brake fluid. After that his car would idle high and sound a bit "of". So I cleaned his carb with carb cleaner, cleaned all linkages, adjusted his throttle cable, throttle accelerator pump, and fixed his idle.

Before all of that, we changed his PCV valve. Well on my 89', the valve is plastic and its more 'round' where as on his 86' its a metal valve and it seems longer than mine.

Is there a reason Honda did this?

I'm sure it's plastic now just do to being cheaper to make

Weird, because when we got his new valve it was metal and had a different part number than mine.

The PCV system on the '89s seems to have suffered from expense accounting cost cutting measures. It made the whole mess less durable and more likely to break. When I did my engine swap, I broke some PCV parts (plastic breather box neck) and substituted earlier parts w/o a problem.
