hi.Just got my dx yesterday gave 200.00 for it.It had a broke timing belt u can see it in the pictures.I fixed it this evening after work.Well got the timing belt on it.I havent gotten the rest of it on yet though I just mainly wanted to start it and make sure it runs good seems like it runs excellent the choke is sticking got to fix that.But it has been painted was white now its a real deep purple alomst black.With lots of flakes in it.Dont know much about the carbs. on these I lik lxi better.But this 1 will be fun its a 5 spd.

just got done taking it for a road test its missing just a lil bit.but its set for awhile so that might be it.its missing a screw in the distributor cap which could cause this also.but other than that it ran fine no smoke.its not as peppy as my lxi but for 200.00 who cares lol.Its also the same interior color as my lxi so ill drive it for awhile then maybe convert my lxi to stick shift with it.:gun:

yeah definetly the cloths is better in the lxi.i took it for a 2 1/2 hour drive to day.It needs a left cv joint,speedo cable,and factory stereo needs rewired some1 tried to do it but didnt know what they were doing.Other than that its a real good car.Had like 4 different people ask to buy it (lol)I told them they could get it (When they pry it out of my cold dead fingers) :gun:

hi i wanted other opininons on if i should put on scoop,also if i should make functional or not.I laid it on hood an took some pics,also have pics of the new pedals i put in.Check out how the paint looks purple from 1 way then black from another i thought that was pretty cool.I laid a stiff buffing to it yesterday and it really made it shine i still just cant believe they sold me that car for the price i got it.

update on the dx.put on a body kit dropped the wing and I am going to take off hood scoop as well then I will tape off at the moldings and paint down the bottoms of car and bumpers black that way I dont have to repaint the whole car.I think I will leave the steelies though (steelies ftw)I dont know how people drive with those wings on everytime I put one on I keep thinking its going to rip off trunk lid an kill some1.hubcaps were on it when I got it.I put mesh grille in because I was working on it one day an the car took of through my yard and went into the ditch the front bumper caught a in ground cattle barrier and busted the whole bottom out of it.Still cant figure out if im going to sell it or not depends if I can ever get the idle problem straightend out or not drives me crazy one minute it idles at 4000 rpm next it wont idle at all or it will drop to about 800 rpm every once in a while very aggravating but what do you do. lol Although I just read back over this topic I have had the fin off for a while and I have to agree with every1 what in the hell was I thinking that looked like crap hahahahahahaah

im thinking wow I have a car with a busted factory bumper sitting im yard and a body kit hanging on the side of my building not being used why not use it and save buying a new factory bumper then it can look like the other dozen or so Ive seen with this kit that look pretty dang nice if I dont say so myself.heres an example.I love this honda its very clean.

Finally got the dx into my friends body shop.We got the body kit all lined up and put some strong brackets on it.Made it good an sturdy.Taped it off and sanded down real good.Compressor went out so cant spray till 2morrow.

he got everything based yesterday and cracks in front bumper showed through so hes got to redo front bumper but i did get a pic of it with the base coat on it today.And no the wing next to it is the paint mans.I traded him both my wings for the paint job plus a 100.00 for materials.

I see that scoop is still on even when it's getting painted and I doubt you ever got a weber 38. You put the spoiler on it because teens liked it and you thew a body kit on because it was sitting in your back yard.. I can't help but wonder why it was there at the first place.

Doesn't look too bad (except for the hood scoop), personally I would have painted the body kit the same color as the car its self- ya know kept it a single tone, plus the oem black looks nice ^_^ Would look sweet all black with some black rotas, but thats just my 2 cents lol

But as it is (MINUS the ugly hood scoop of course) it might not look bad with a good set of silver or black rims.

yeah that really was the way I wanted was one color but the paint thats on the top half was done by some1 else be4 I got the car it is a black that shifts to purple depending on how the light hits it and whoever did it put a butload of flake in the clear coat.So the guy said anything he mixed couldnt match it exact.So we decided to 2 tone it.Cause the top half is still nice shape a good buff will make it really pop that will be next on the list.
I helped paintman make brackets and fit the parts on then he sanded sealed,primed and painted and clear coated it for $200.00.and a spoiler
considering how great it turned out I am estatic.

but in the future i may have top done silver starting to like the silver

I got the scoop off today and I stuck on the wheels on that I had on the white honda a while back I think they look okay I mean they arent spectacular or nothing but it needed tires and the ones on these rims were still in good shape and it helped raise car up a lil bit so it wont drag.
Now as soon as buisness picks up ill get some mesh for holes and a new grille also got to get some carb parts I figured out what was wrong with mine but a lot of junkyards around here wont sell the carb.

i'd agree with CAH but in this case the wheels look way too small on the car with that kit so yea u should get a bigger set of rims. that paint job turned out to be nicer than i thought, too! :thumbup:

Yeah I would like to have some real nice rims to put on it.But the problem is where I live nice rims dont last cause road conditions are so bad rims with low pro tires get messed up.I had to have 1 of the rims on the lxi welded up cause it cracked and the more I drive the dx with some decent fat tires on it the more I have come to realize that having those big rims with low pro tires on them make the lxi ride like a dang sled.You feel bumps twice as bad running thin tires as you do with bigger ones.Also I have decided to keep the dx cause that 5 spd is way to much fun.lol.I had the body kit on the lxi and with rims and tires that was on it the body kit dragged on everything I live in the mountains just wasnt very practical. I like going fishing, hiking an stuff that means being able to get the car off the side of the road without the aide of a rollback.The biggest problem I had with the body kit on the lxi with the rims that were on it is the cattle gate in my driveway it dragged the bodykit and now that its off and I have the 4 mudflaps on there it drags the mudflaps everytime I cross it here is a pic.....

altogether I got about 600.00 in it.
paid
200.00 for car.
100.00 to get title straightened out
100.00 for bodykit
200.00 for paint on lower half
and whatever it was I paid for timing belt to fix where it had broke thats how I got it because owner had taken it to a mechanic who told her motor was ruined cause belt broke which every1 knows these are noninterferance motors.ha

You can run a 215 40 17 on it . Its a bigger size tire and will fit . With it not being dropped i dont see how you will be able to see a difference when riding. And 15 inch rims still wont make your body kitted car look right without a drop.

But you cant definetly tell a diff. with low profile tires cause they are what cushions wheel from the road.

True that more tire more cushion. I got 17 inch rims with 205/40/17's tires . Just took it back to stock ride height.And might sqeeze on some 215/40/17's on it. Jus to save my back and my car from breaking..lol
Thats whats sucks when you throw a big body kit on it.
I had it lowed with my kaminara body kit and 15 inch rims on it at one point and it looked good. Reminded me of gettogeddy's old sedan with the rim size and the stance.Well then i found a set of 17 inch focals that this one kid sold me for 75 bucks with one good tire. So i grabed them and got some tires and trew them on there. 200 % differnce in the look of the car. SO i rolled like that for a couple years. Went threw mass tires ball joints and tie rods...lol well havent actually replaced them yet but there gone from the last set up..
So i got me some kyb gr -2 struts ,cheap but a good deal for 80 bucks for all four with stock springs on them. Put them back on. to go back to regualr ride height its a big differnce in the ride but still want to replace the ball joints tie rods and wheel bearings next time i hit it.
So im goin to get some bigger tires and rool with my 17's still so i dont have to worry about clearance , wear , and bouncing. Plus still have the look that i want that the bigger set of rims gives this car. With a body kit all you need is a nice big set of rims .Becuase it does the lowering look for ya already.
But your car is coming along fine..Its not real bad . it is a project right? As time goes it can only get better.
Throw the rims on yo0ur other car on it for a couple pics .And look at the differnce.Or a nice idea about the underconstruction look would be to take the stealies to that dude who paints and have him paint them the same silver as your car and roll on them for awhile.

replaced valve cover and disrtibutor gaskets today fixed my oil leaks.Head was real clean.Got a pic of it below.Also got me a grille bought 2 at the junkyard they were both broken but took 2 an made 1. Center was broke out so I decided to stick honda emblem in center.Got the idea off some1 on here.

He said he was going to come up with it.So if I get paid Ill be shopping for a header for the lxi.

That's awesome that someone jumped up and offered up some $$ for the car. If you're happy with the offer, then go for it. As for the front end, this seems like a case of bad upper and/or lower ball joints. There's a million sets of inexpensive (go ahead guys, flame away, but they really do work) upper control arms on ebay, and there's plenty of sets of decent lower ball joints as well. That should clear up the case of the front end shakes real well. If that turns out to be the solution, I would also consider the outer tie-rod ends, as well as the notorious upper rear control arms. Those have let go on a few members here (while driving) and I'm one of them. Not a fun thing to have happen, trust me there.

Anyway, looking good. Now that kit needs a paint job too.

That should clear up the case of the front end shakes real well. If that turns out to be the solution, I would also consider the outer tie-rod ends, as well as the notorious upper rear control arms. Those have let go on a few members here (while driving) and I'm one of them. Not a fun thing to have happen, trust me there.

Anyway, looking good. Now that kit needs a paint job too.

Wait, you left that part out before. If it yanks the wheel consistently to one side, then check your calipers. Check the old pads for uneven wear. There could be some really old shitty fluid in lines, but I'm thinking more along the lines of seized up guide pins on the calipers. Not a big deal at all though. Just hit up your local pick'n'pull and yank a pair of front knuckles, master cyl, and prop valve off an 88-89 LX-i (make sure they have even pad-wear). Great upgrade, and better designed caliper too. Just remember that you're now limited to a min of 14" wheels as they have bigger calipers, rotors, pads.

MY bad I really didnt describe it to good.When ur driving along an step on brakes it shakes really bad an steering wheel go from left to right in ur hand pretty bad its not one direction its back n forth.and sometimes u can pull up emergency brake and it feels like it helps when u step on the brakes then.But I changed front pads and rotors of an lx that braked fine.With no change.And the back brakes r adjusted up properly.but I jacked it up today couldnt find anything loose except axle is really bad I think it might have something to do with it.I have 2 axles but they are from an automatic an only 1 of them interchanges.and it just happens to be the side that wont work. So ill have to pick 1 up I guess.
I will get a price from the junk man if price is right ill pick front brake set off his lxi

i really like the old skool wheels on the DX. The only thing I would do to it (even though I'm not a fan of that front bumper) is put a mesh or screen of some sort in the gaping hole on the front bumper, and put something on the underside of it so you can't see the grass/ground through the front of it. The skirts, and rear bumper, as well as the 2-tone paint is pretty cool though.

edit: Oh, and for God's sake, someone get this man a passenger side view mirror for that DX.

I am actually thinking about getting two flat camaro tips and having duals using that style tip would fill the holes up pretty nicely.Yeah ive been watching some mesh for bumper on ebay just waiting to find some for cheap havent quite figured out how to make the parking lights for front bumper yet but I will some how.

I like the white car, even with the stripes. I'm not as much a fan of the other one, but once you get the kit meshed and so forth it will probably look a good deal better. A few more coats of clear on the paint probably wouldn't hurt either.

You should be able to get some cheap mesh at the hardware store. It may not be as nice as what you're looking for, but it'll do the job until you can find what you want, and it'll look a good deal better than it does right now.

I don't think anyone's done this before but fabbing a lip spoiler/undertray and a rear lip spoiler/undertray for that kit would really make it look hot.

Head banger was messing around today and come up with this. STeelies some tint and black door moldings black license plate shroud. Erased emblems. and did some work to the rear bumper cover and i think it looks real nice with the thing cut out. Im not a pro at doing photo edit but you can do alot with that kit to make it look tight as hell. I was thinkin if you cut the inside lip in the door on the side skirts you could move the side skirts inward like pussing them under the car more and it would set that kit off too. Just got borred and was tryin to get a visual of what i see in your ride. Givin ya some thoughts aobut it .

yeah I never painted over the orignal license plate holder I just painted another 1 an swapped em out so I could always put it back on.Its painted sames color as top half.
Had another ? do you guyz think the scoop I had on it awhile back would look good on it silver or leave it off what you think?

no more silver...and take the light deals you just painted silver back to black along with the licnse plate deal. no hood scoop. and put your other rims on it already. and your exhaust tip back on. you went over board with the silver.and i told you all you needed was some tint and rims and it will look real good. like i said. and maybe get some new emblems or jsut remove the ones that are on it they looked like there old and it doesn look right with new paint. small details is where your at at this point. if you can get all the details right then it will come out good.
DETAILS INCLUDE =
Window trim . either paint them all black or take the black off the rear window trim with paint remover and make it silver.
The emblems. they look shaby. so remover then and ust leave the wholes till you get brand new ones that shine real good and the black isnt faded out.
MEsh...Go to hardware store get the fatest mesh you can find and fit it in there. silver . not black you dont want to many colors goin in the silver keep it two tone.
tint...you got to tint it. thats where my next money would go with this car. even before you get your rims
then all youl have to do is get some nice 17's for it.Or even just throw the ols skools away that are on it and swap the rims off the white one for the stealies . hell i think the purple one is way tighter thn the white one once you get it tinted and put the rims on it. id rather be rollin in it

I have hit a problem need some advice please.I put this car on craiglist for 1400.00 and have 2 people wanting to buy it.I would be doubling my money on it but now that everything works great on it I have become sort of attached to it could use the cash but im looking at it as money would be gone in a couple of weeks and I will be short an accord.It is the only one in my general area I have seen with a bodykit on it.Would you sell or not?

I'm with Joay on this one. By no means does that mean that I don't approve of the DX, but you've done well with it, and done it justice. Now pass it along to another new owner that will hopefully get bitten by this same 3G bug. You may pick up another friend off the deal as well.

Regardless, it'll allow you to focus on your white one, and gives you the satisfaction of knowing that you were able to make a 3G a cinderella story, and proves that you can easily do it again as soon as you're ready to.

dude, chill. he likes his white one, and the stripes are not your or my taste, but he likes those too. Honestly, I'd take the white one (stripes and all) over this DX. The white one is fuel injected, which inherently has less problems than the DX. It's also got power windows, etc, which all lend themselves to being a better DD. I'm not bashing the DX (that's all I have ever owned [by choice too]) because it does have some serious potential, but it was not done with the level of detail and quality as his LX-i, and $1400 for basically a bone-stock DX with a kit is not a bad price to get either.

yeah Ive got way to much time an money tied up in my lxi to get what I got in it back out of it.I paid 1000.00 for it when I bought it an it had to be towed home.The only real reason I like the dx is because of the 5 speed and with the money I make from it I might do a 5 spd swap to my lxi.Plus I kinda like the thought of some1 else getting the dx maybe they will finish what I started an make her into a badass ride.But more likely they will drive the wheels off it.lol.But if I was to sell my lxi I would regret it from now on.It still has a few problems that would keep any one from wanting to pay top dollar for it.So Ill just keep it an that way I can get focused back on it.

yeah I was happy an sad to see her go every time I get in my lxi first thing I try to do is mash in the clutch lol,I got so used to driving dx.
Im going to put on header an run 3 inch pipe all the way out with a hollowed out cat.
Thinking on a headlight conversion.
I also want to rebuild engine but will probaly wait till I get some more dough cause I also want to have my backup tranny rebuilt so I can put them together when its done an have new drivetrain.
