got ahold of a vintage set of aircraft wing marker lights, was thinking of painting the white part black, putting in the red lenses, and mounting them down low on the sides of my rear lip near the ground, facing back. they are directional and twenty watts each. be hard to miss at night. lol. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/lostforawhile/S4020445.jpg

correction 28 watts solid color. thats bright!
both holes are in,it's nerve racking putting a hole through two pieces of steel lol. these are fixture drilled,so both sides are in exactly the same place. i sprayed a lot of self etch primer in there, plus i made good gaskets,so should be no leaks.

here is the gasket cut out with the main hole for the light in it, i machined down a piece of tubing to the wierd size i needed for the hole, then used it for a punch.
http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/lostforawhile/S4020448.jpg
fixture i made to hold the light and gasket in place so i could mark the locations for the three screw holes, this also sits on the quarter panel, and allows me to make two marks, that i use to line the light up.

remember this part of the car will be black, and the light cover will be the same color so it will blend in well

well Tim, you're the official 3G tinker-er-er-er.

...jury's still out on them for me, but let's see some pics of the whole car, or at least where we can see more of the back end to see positioning, scale, etc.

props for taking the plunge and leap of faith in cutting up the sheet.

they will disappear a lot more when that part of the car is painted black and the housings on the light are black also. the paint will be the same. right now they stick out like a sore thumb because the car is primer and they are black. also the trim piece above is off the car right now. i have the ability to see how something will look in my head before it's completly finished. just like my wheels, they looked like crap then with some work, they look totally different. they will disappear into the body work when done.

they don't have much drag, they are designed to be extremly aerodynamic. they are off of an airplane of course. they also have the coolness factor of being unique, one of the kick ass things on these, these have sat in boxes in the other hanger since 1986,never opened. they were manufactured the same month and year as my car was.

the last pic looks like you put it on the door

the last pic looks like you put it on the doorno lower quarter down at the bottom near the wheel. the quarter panel on a hatch looks like a door in the pic,it has the same curve. actually more on the hatch
if you stood next to the car you couldn't even see them unless you were down at ground level.

they are here, thank you ghettogeddy for the photochop, this is pretty close to how my car will look, quarter panels will be black and most of the light housing will be painted with the same color as the body.wheels will look like this too,or very close to it. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/lostforawhile/hatchphotoshop.jpg

Except you'll blind other drivers. Those are crazy bright! Great idea though.na i don't think so, they are directional, the bulb has a built in reflector, most of the light is aimed at the tire. tire edge sticks out further then the light.

been out there wiring, got a lot of it done on the car,i built a relay box for these lights, so i can tie them into the front corner marker/turn signals, at the control box under the dash, plus i have an authentic navigation lights switch for an airplane already in my center console. then will work work in sync with the marker turn signals. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/lostforawhile/S4020478.jpg?t=1209952993
