Hey guys, been awhile since I've hung around here. About a year ago I quite driving the '87 and replaced it with a '94 Accord EX. 2 door, leather, sunroof, the works. I threw on a GReddy cat-back, a cheap intake, and a short shifter. It's much faster than the '87 and rides a lot smother. Nice car. But I still have the old one just sitting there while I pay a car loan and higher insurance. So today I had a thought. Why not replace the Weber carb with some fuel injection? There's tons of 3rd gens sitting in the junkyard. And it's not like the car has been moved for a couple of weeks now. I've gotten kicked off my street for parking with expired tags twice now and it won't pass emissions because of the carb and bigger exhaust so I can't renew them. So why not work on making the old one fuel injected and sell the new one when it's done? I like the newer one. It's comfortable and is fairly quick. But if I can do the F.I. conversion on the old one, I won't have to worry about dumping another 5 grand into the new one to get the mods I want, and I won't have a car payment. Plus, the '87 will be quicker than it was with the Weber so it won't be as much of a dog (the second barrel doesn't open). So basically what I'm getting at, what do you guys think? If all goes as planned I'll be able to have a grand or so to play with after selling the '94, and be able to pay a loan on a street bike. Seems like a good deal to me. Any ideas? Is it worth it?

Also, the '94 has 186k miles compared to the 89k on the '87

A pic of each

The 3g is the way to go bro....do the efi sawp and get rid of the newer Accord. Plus in all honesty, the 87 Accord looks better than the 94 anyway.

I definately agree with this.
But the best part I see is the no loan payment part. Who needs another payment?
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
P.S. That is a very nice 3gee seems a shame to let it sit.

^^^^This is true! But in all honesty, the lines on the 87 (actually all 3g's) look way better than the lines on the 94 Accords. Call me crazy, but I have always like the "under dog" and our cars are actually pretty decent. I know that there isn't huge aftermarket support for our cars like the 94 Accords, but our cars can be made to hold their own against the more "supported" vehicle types. Plus, to be completely honest, I would rather have no car payment and have more money to put into my 3g so it's not like all the other cars out there....

As you mentioned, it's also worth keeping in mind that your 3G has less than half the mileage of your 5G. Besides, that 3G looks too nice to never be driven!

Thanks for the support guys. I'm hoping everything works out the way I want it to. I wanted to check out the junkyard today, but got sidetracked. I'll be able to check it out in the morning though. So hopefully I'll find myself a nice parts car. I'll keep ya posted on that. Anybody thats done the swap have any pointers for me? I mean, the how-to pretty much covers all sides but I'd really like to get it done as quickly as possible because I don't have my own garage to work in so I'll be using my cousins. I was also thinking about cutting off the GReddy muffler before I got rid of the 5g to use on the other car because the sound of if is muuuch nicer than the fart can I have on it now. And you guys are all right. I had both parked one in front of the other, and the 3g just has such nicer lines than the other. I'm really hoping in can cruise the streets in it once again.

Alright. So I went to a junkyard today. They told me $300 for the whole motor and all of the other parts that I might need if I take it out myself. Thats not too bad of a deal, but I don't wanna have the hassle of taking all the parts out of a car thats in a junkyard. Anyone have something they wanna get rid of for a little cheaper? I mean, the price isn't bad, I can live with it, But it'd take a lot to get the motor out from where it sits. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
