I've been scanning this site for weeks. Lots of nice cars and useful information. I just acquired myself a 1989 Honda Accord DX. A two-door with manual trans. It has 176K miles on it but the body is still in good condition. Some minor rusts in the corners and needs a good cleaning. The car has not been driven since 09/2005. I had to have it towed to my house but I was able to get it to start (just needed new batteries). The engine is dirty too and oil is leaking somewhere. I'm hoping it's just a bad gasket.

I just want to restore it and make it road worthy again. I'm planning to do most of the work. I'm hoping I won't have to spend too much money on this project.

Here's some pictures ...

Let me know what you think.

It looks like an lx since the bumpers are white.

Paint your trim and your car will be alot nicer looking. Some rims would add a nice touch too.

Hi, welcome new member !

I wish I could find a coupe!, the list of things you mention are not out of line with any used Honda. No worries, once you take care of those oil leaks, and get the old stale gas out you will love the car.

welcome babelbox.

Nice looking base to start from, and very little rust considering it's in NJ. Is it Auto or stick? If it's running by late summer/early spring, it'd be great to see it at a meet. Check out the let's meet section to keep up on the details of an upcoming meet, and see who's in your area.

All bumpers are painted on coupes, as yours is. Coupe's only came in DX or LX-i trim levels.

I didn't think I had ever seen a coupe with black bumpers !

Most I see also have grab ya seatbelts too.

I saw the weirdest thing yesterday, I may have been mistaken but it looked a 3rd Gen coupe with a 92-95 Civic clip in the front. No BS

yeah the 88-89 coupe dx came with painted bumpers....there is no such thing as a coupe lx...anyways looks like your car just need a good cleaning and it will look better.

WELCOME! if you painted that last 9 in the background white it would look like the odometer reading! but 900k is a way off for you. thats a low mile 3g at 176k man. hopefully whoever had it before you took decent care of it.

Yea!!! Another coupe. Nice base to start with. Just paint the trim and change the gaskets. A set of fat fives and a drop would give it a nice look.
