i have a 89 lxi

replaced the pass side shaft because the boot was torn

it was a b**ch to get out i broke it in two parts to get it out the c clip would not let go

now with the new one in it wont stay clipped in place it pops out and leaks all the oil out

checked the trany dont see any reason why it wont stay clipped

only thing i can think of the c clip is not good even though its new
or the reman shaft is too short by 1/4 inch

what can i do guys?

Sometimes you have to creatively hammer the inner joint into the transmission to get the clip to seat. I have heard of aftermarket axles coming with bad clips before.

nah i dont think theres anything in there you can break. otherwise the new axle wouldnt have slid in there at all.

I bought a new cv joint awhile back and had the same problem. It turned out that the inner cv was for an automatic. Every time I turned it would pop out and pour fluid out. Still have the stains in my driveway to prove it.
