I so want some on my 3Gee. Anyone have any previous experience installing sidemarkers on Ek's? EG's? Integra's n such?

Here's 2 I found online that i think would look good.

I was wondering though, what do you use to cut the hole? How does the wiring work? Let me know what you guys know...I think sidemarkers would look real good on a 3Gee

haha Tim, truly original. (so is the glasspack as your tailpipe)

I installed aftermarket VW ones (i think they are, but honestly have no idea) quite a few years ago with the help of a cardboard template for the cutout, scribed it to the fender w/ a scribe, then drilled a million holes with low pressure into the center of the area that needed to be cut. Then avaition snips w/ the stubby, angled head. Then cleaned up the whole thing with a good 'ol fashion file.

Whatever you do, please please please either clearcoat, prime, hell just regular spray paint (just do something) the cut-out so you don't end up rusting the fresh cut metal.

the glasspack was for you, but i know you know how to do it right when cutting in sheetmetal. you never cease to amaze me with the stuff you put together. I remember the old member "Tim_Yoak" (gee, i wonder who that was) that did the circular cutouts in the inner part of the taillights WAY back in the day.

The surface prep comment was more for the guys that are just diy'ers trying out the idea of sidemarkers. Just tossing out one important, and commonly overlooked hint to a better job.

Nice nibler. Looks like it'd damage some paint though?

Alrighty so we all know how to cut a hole.

How about wiring? How do we go about doing that?

if they are just standard marker lights, just run the hot wire back and tie it into one of the taIlight bulbs. mine are a little bit more complex, since they pull 30 watts apiece, i have a relay system that lets them function with the front corner markers,so they act as running lights and turn signals.

just use some extra wire and extend it to the sidemarkers or front signals, whatever you want
