This guy is getting destroyed on www.vadriven.com.....basicly he bought a 89 accord for 2k with 90k on the motor. Of course others can't see why he feels like he got a deal

it is indeed a good find but not such a killer deal really.
I paid 180 dollars for one of my 86 accords and drive it almost everyday, it has a folder full of all maintenance records from the past three years, about 2000 worth of work done.
I am looking at an 89 Lxi today (180.000 miles which is still low miles for these cars) they are askng 500 for it, Im gonna make an offer, it is very clean inside but the paint is toast , has all kinds of maintenance records, recent.

I'm actually on that board regularly, and I don't know how I didn't catch that before. I do agree though, he got way to defensive and was bragging about it like it was a killer steal when honestly it wasnt. Its a clean car and all, but don't brag like he did.

I don't see how thats such a great deal as the hubcaps and the bumpers need to be refinished. I got my 3gee 7 years ago for $1600 with new timing belt, drive belts, water pump, windshield, and a clutch. It had 115k on it, it just needed spark plugs. Of course lots of money went into it, but thats besides the point.

+1 finding a econo car for a fair price was very tough (I searched for over half a year). I saw mid 90's civics with nearly 300,000 miles going for 2.7-3k, tons of body rust to boot. And they were actually selling at that price too!

They are, the guy i got my civic from wanted $1500 for it, but gladly he wanted to trade my $500 stratus for his civic so now I got a civic :) I found a receipt of sale in the car and when he 1st got it he paid $500 for it, but I guess he raised the price because he replaced the motor when it blew an oil ring.

He did get a deal. But see it depends on his economy of the state he's in. I got my Accord in Mass for 2200. 91' Accord Lx, mint body etc. auto. If I was to buy this in CT I would pay probably 4 grand. Seeing as cars just like mine sell for at least 3Grand with 180k.
