I don't really have any pics of my short shifter, but it's a pacesetter. I like it a lot. The ball is threaded up as far as it can go on mine, and it gives very short shifts. A couple of inches, maybe. Bitesize drove my car a couple of times, and he hates it. I'll admit that it takes some getting used to. First day or two is really slow shifting so you don't miss shifts, then once you get the hang of it you can pick up speed again.

oh yeah one more thing. If you want to thread it all the way down, or even most of the way down, in order to get the shortests shifts. You'll need to hammer out the heatshield above the cat a bit. Otherwise it won't fit, or it'll scrape. I hammered mine out, but apparently not well enough because it rubs a bit getting into 5th and reverse.

Yea they don't make them anymore, generally a company will offer the and when they are ordered the order will go directly to pacesetter(in this case because our cars aren't really high demand). I think there were some people with modified shifters around here and some people looking to get ones made.. I don't think I have seen anything go through yet though.

Oh also, I remember seeing the pacesetter box that forrest posted a long time ago, the part #'s for the 3g, and the 86-89 teg where the same... however no one makes shifters for either of them =\

What I don't get is for Pacesetter the 84-87 CRX/Civic and 86-89 Accord share the same part number, with DC the Accord and Civic have there own part numbers
and with DC the 84-87 CRX Shifter is the same as the 86-89 Teg one

but that is odd.. hmm kinna confusing

Here i'll try to lay it out better:

For Pacesetter:
86-89 Accord/84-87 CRX/84-87 Civic uses Part Number 01-0210
86-89 Integra uses Part Number 01-0110

For DC 86-89 Accord has it's own part number (which i lost someone post it please)
and 84-87 CRX and 86-89 Integra both share Part Number HSA5002

SO... Does this mean that the 86-89 Teg, 84-87 CRX/Civic and 86-89 Accord Shifters are the same? Someone needs to hit up a JY and get a 86-89 Teg Shifter!

mine looks alot like messyhondas. i took 2 inches off the top and added 1 inch to the bottom. much like turabok says. The shifter doesnt hit the heat shield but the shift rod does rub against it. Ill have to bend it out of the way. The shifter itself is requiring more effort to move but thats probably becuase its rubbing the shield. The linkages are tight becuase I replaced all the bushings, seals and everything. totaal movement is short maybe 2 inches travel at top. Ill post pics of the finished height when I get it all settled and the center console back on.

yep, or had it made with my specs. I dont weld so I brought it to a buddy of mine and asked him to do it for me. He cut the 2 inches just above where the angle starts so when he welded it back on it gave the best landing and thicker material. He filled in the difference in height and ground it down good too. It looks stock. On the bottom side he cut one of the welds in half and added part of the top to it. Its just bombcan sprayed for now but I think itll last a long time above a heat shield wrapped in rubber seals living in a heated garage.

I didnt get a chance to work on it tonight so probably tomorrow ill see about muscling that heat shield a bit. I think the shifter will just be taller than the console leaving just the threads exposed. Perfect for the rubber style boot or a custom boot. I foound a guy on ebay that makes boots to specs. I sent him my stocker and asked him to lower the top point 2 inches and sew in a round top rather than the stock honda chrome plastic piece. Hopefully it will look better with a aftermarket carbon knob

You can install any 88-00 civic shifter if you use the civic ball seat 54110-SH3-003 with a couple wraps of electrical tape, 2 of the accord ball seat spacers 54146-SE0-000 below the ball, and 2 accord circlips 94520-45000 at the top. The bottom dust boot 54114-SE0-000 and ball stopper 54119-SE0-000 get reused. The extra ball seat spacer and circlip accommodate for the slightly shorter ball seat. The electrical tape is not really necessary, it just helps to snug it up a bit. Finished product results in much less play than the stock shifter and shorter shifts of course. :D

Hopefully it will look better with a aftermarket carbon knobthe plastic piece can be removed easy, just flip the boot inside out and remove the zip tie, I just made my own boot, i cut up a stock one for a pattern then just sewed up a new one out of leather. all you need is a piece of round aluminum bar with a hole in the middle, you replace the plastic piece with this, then zip tie it under the boot like stock, then flip it right side out, this gives a nice finished end to the boot.
