Well put the car on the dyno today and had it tuned. I switched to ectune about 2 weeks ago and its MUCH better than crome. Here are the pics. I'll post the results later.

I'm the one behind the camera. I didn't ask what they were doing with the backhoe.

nice numbers whats now to weigh it and get that power to weight ratio to see just how quick it really is

EricW
07-13-2008, 07:13 PM
Well the stock weight is a little over 2600 and I made 239whp @5376rpm and 237wtq 4939rpm. My turbo is too small to make power on the top end. My boost dropped off at about 5000 rpm it went from 12psi down to about 7psi by red line. The turbo works great for autocross since it hits full boost and keeps it through the mid range.

Must I even say this. Your car is hot sex, even with the primered front end, and it's nice to see it on video making those numbers. That thing is probably a blast to drive. Great job man.

Thanks. They are powerslot 12" rotors. Its the big brake upgrade that's in the "how to" section for the AEM brake kit. The rears are 11.1".

The mod list might take awhile, but I'll try to get around to it. The motor is stock with a gude cam and golden eagle adjustable cam gear.

I'ts been turboed for almost a year and a half. I've put over 10k on it with the turbo.

Thanks guys! Its quite fun to drive.

Update.

I picked up another T3 with a larger exhaust housing, .63 vs the .48 now, I've got to clean it up some but will be putting it on sometime. I hope to make more power with it since the .48 housing is limiting my power. Although it will take a little longer to spool with the larger housing.

What your cold side A/R ?

My current one is .42. Not sure what the new one is that i picked up but it is a T3 off of a 80s 300z. but from this (http://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php?topic=27392) thread on HMT it leads me to believe that the turbo is a .60/.63.

That 300z turbo should do the job well for you. Now you should hold 12psi all the way to redline:rice:and give you more HP.:flash:

pretty exciting is'nt it... good job!

Thanks, Yes it was quite exciting seeing it make that much. I'm running a garrett T3 .42/.48 I believe its off an old GM car. I'm running a tial 38.

for some reason i was thinking it was a t3 from a t-bird. I am not up on the gm turbos.
the turbo from a t-bird (same size) can handle 20 psi and max out around 300+/- hp.

i had a similar issue with mine, it would boost to 12psi then drop to 8psi.

it turned out the gain control on the boost controller was off quite a bit.

what i am trying to get at is i think you have more in it than you think.

i know i am going to get clowned for saying that about that turbo but trust me i have done the research.

Little food for thought: the slugs in a 2.3l t/c is closer to 4"

Well I had to turn the duty cycle down on the ebc after setting on the dyno. When i did a few pulls on the street it would over boost and i had to turn the duty cycle down 6%, which when we were on the dyno every 7% equaled about 1 lb of boost. From the data logs I hit peak boost at 3600 and it tapers down from there dropping about 4 lbs by 6K so something is limiting the amount of air flowing through the motor. I'm going to set up an rpm based duty cycle to try and compensate for the loss of boost, but i would rather just have a turbo capable of holding the boost at that setting.

Looking good there Eric. Glad to see you're still working and and caught the boost bug a little I see going bigger turbo alrady! lol

Keep it up. :D

I did some tuning tonight and compensated for the loss of boost in the higher rpms, at least in 3rd and 4th gear anyway I'm having some trouble with getting 2nd to hold steady boost. I'm starting to wonder if I should set the cam timing back to 0 in stead of +1 as it may be affecting the amount of air able to go through the motor at high rpms.

On a side note I did beat up on a mustang gt vert the other night. ;)

try retarding the cam. there use to be a cam timing thread and everyone with a turbo had theres retarded 1-4 deg.
are you running a profec controler?

good job on the mustang.

I'm running a ebc with ectune. Ectune has all of the necessary software to control the ebc either with a static duty cycle or boost by gear or boost by rpm. You just have to purchase a boost solenoid and connect it to either the EGR(A11) output or IAB output(A17).

I've gotten the solenoid pretty well configured right now running boost by rpm, it could be a little better but I haven't went out a data logged any pulls to get it closer. It will hit 10~11 psi in 2nd and 12psi in 3rd, 4th, 5th. I did a pull in 2nd last night and it started spinning the tires when i hit 5k so I know I'm making more power than I did when i dynoed because they wouldn't spin after i dynoed. I'm going to the track Friday night to see what it'll run to bad its only an 1/8th.
