Hi, guys, I have the 86 lxi, been sitting for a few years, and it would smoke real bad
upon starting it, I checked the oil and it was about a quart too full. When I drained it
it got on my hand and it smelled like it had gas mixed in it. Is that a head gasket problem
should I even bother to fill it up again. any help is appreciated. thanks.:sadwave:

all you can do is try, there could have been a number of reasons thats happened.

Gasoline in the oil has nothing to do with a bad headgasket. Most likely its just the oil has gone bad from sitting and starting and the car running very rich at the intial start up. You can do a compression test of each cylinder and see if the cars motor is OK if you dont want to spend to much time on it. If it checks ok on compression then that be a good time to put new NGK plugs on it also.

If the headgasket is bad usually the oil will have a milky white look to it or chocalte brown from water mixing with the oil while running.

There are a few things that can go bad like sensors that make a car run rich at idle or a misadjusted carb too.

change the oil out and see if it happens...what color is the smoke?
