Ground wires

I read that poor grounds could make even a carb idle rough. Well mine idles a bit rough, after this rough idle the car wouldn't run at all. So I found out the ground wire on the thermostat housing broke off. I soldered on an extension wire and it runs fine but still has the rough idle. Does anyone know where this wire leads to so I can just run a new wire? Also, the negative cable for the battery is new, should I upgrade the grounds on the valve cover, and the rest of them?

i'd upgrade them all i know on my 3gee when i upgraded the valve cover one it helped alot same with my legend

I'll have to get some wire do that.

it helps a bit not agreat improvement at least for me, except starting wow world of difference
