so since day 1 of owning this car the stupid drivers window wont go up/down properly

at first i thought the window had come off the regulator...which it had

the 2 "white" clips that the window rests in that are attached to the arms of the regulartor were either missing entirely or were missing the actual screws that held them in place

the clip furthest forward had come off the glass AND arm all together and was siting at the bottom of the door

the 2nd clip (furthest back) was half screwed onto the regulator with the glass almost totally out of it

also there is a very large ammount of what looks like glue on both clips...i would assume to hold the window in place?

i managed to McGuyver the window to stay up but my numbnuts father rolled the window down and now its all fubar worse then before

so today i pull the panel off again and it looks like the entire regulator came apart...well not actually came apart but it looks like things are not where they should be?

so one of the arms on the regulator is bent or at least it is not as straight as the rest of the arms

it looks as if it got stuck in the track and so much tq was put on it it twisted its self...the way the little roller inside the track sits it kind of binds on the rest of the rail and is hard to move espically when it was in the door

ALSO

the small gear in here

which i assume is what rotates this

is not connected to w/e that thing in the 2nd picture is....meaning the teeth on the motor its self and the teeth on the half circle thing dont connect...when it was in the door the bigger thing was siting behind/below the motor and it wouldn't (and still wont even though its out of the car) connect

is the whole thing toast? can i hammer that bitch back?

this picture makes me the most sad though

That old window regulator isn't worth the trouble saving by the way it looks. The glue (urethane epoxy) isn't there either for the clips. Looks like you need some new clips, some glue & a new window regulator.

Them compression numbers aren't bad, it's when you get more than 20% (roughly 38 p.s.i.) from highest to lowest readings. Past that reading, you might feel the vibration from imbalanced compression between cylinders.

You can try to massage the regulator into working again, but my experience doing that hasn't been great. It's best just to jam a stick inside the door to keep the window up until you get a new regulator. And don't be afraid to leave the motor unplugged so it doesn't get rolled down again!
