90K MILES!

that is one really clean accord 1g. i always thought the metallic light green always looked its best on the accord. if anyone is in need if a collector's piece accord sedan 1g, this one is a sure success. it isnt that expensive but the price could be knocked down i suppose. it would cost much much more to get a relatively clean accord and do it up. most are rusted out or missing hard to get pieces. someone do check tis car out and let us know what u thing about it....

as per the dark blue civic 81' civic in ur signature dark accord, it is actually not so bad. iv seen far worse on the road. if it isnt for these cars, most of us wouldnt have been able to find spares for our babies to keep running. neway dark accord, i really dig ur hatch..

hey 2ndgenguy, wanna get tis sedan. i noe u like sedans n take em drifing....lol...bt actually someone in this site should go for it....i cant....

Hahaha! You crack me up man. Drifting my sedans! :D

The thing is, with the 5 digit odometer, you don't really know how many miles are on it. There are WAY too many "low mileage" 1geez for sale online for me to believe that every single one I see has less than 100k on it. Most people are lying.

haha....very true.
that was what i suspected from my accord when i bought her with supposately 14,000kms till i realised that the owner knew nuts about cars....sum 70 year old single lady nurse and that the car's pedals were like brand new. it had its original livorno beige paint without a scuff or except a lil ding on the right rear door. however it had a dog tied to her at the front right bumper. the mutt's urine caused the front right rim to be rusted. also, though the garage was long but the rear end stuck out causing the rear lamps to be faded. however the front sealed beams were the originals and were clear like they just left the factory. this was coz the garage. she had a hole on the left front floorpan the size of a coin with some rust around it. otherwise she was clean without any/much rust. and she wasnt taxed for YEAAARRRSSS!! this caused many items to go faulty like the radiator was filled with crap. she was washed everyday by the maid of the house, but the interior had spiders....literally. and all fluids were ruined as well as an un-serviced A/C. of course she did not start!! well my dad saw hope in it and decided to bring her home. the car was a DX when i got her...upgraded to an EX.... she dint even have a radio or mudflaps. she was bone stock other than some lame dark brown fabric seat covers. hehe haha....rest is history.....

however, i may be wrong. but i plan to show some pics of how she looks when i have the time to scan some older pictures of her.

regards, dev....

I dont think he has that anymore. Really its just a reference to a movie called Employee of the Month. A movie that sucks, just like everything else Dane Cook does.....
Dax Shepard and Andy Dick saved it from being a total flop.

I'll be waiting for those since I will always have a weakness for the Livorno Beige of my car. & I gather it will have some distant memories for Hazwan as well.
A boring colour, not flashy, but the sort of colour you just don't see anymore (except maybe on German Taxi's).
But I do like that '81 light green too... & the original bright blue.... &... though maybe not that '78 solid orangey-red.

But it must be remembered nominal "book" values based on averages deserve to go out the window for above average cars as they get older... You simply might not see anything comparable.

Condition is always more important that mileage anyway (terminally rusty 60,000km Lancia at home...)

haridev

livorno beige....well i had that colour for awhile before this. indeed its not flashy but getting the correct colour code became a pain, as you can see the painter failed to get the correct colour for the front fender, causing there to be a major difference in its colour. you can see it in my older post...rebuilt 81' accord. anyway i will scan them when i get the pictures.... the car looks dull though, being bone stock and all. neway, regards to all...

hazwan? watz with u n beige? i only thought u had a thing for the navy blue? interesting.....

OMG!! that is an excellent example of a perfectly mint 1g. the car belongs in a museum. i love its colour too. its soo straight and seems so perfect. i have never seen anything like it in malaysia recently. but viewing posts of cars with such low mileage makes me wonder, why exactly the guy bought the car in the first place. i always believe that cars are meant to be driven on the road, collectors item or not. (Chip Foose's words as well...hehe) its a shame that its in the UK. but its interesting also as we have yet to view any posts of UK 1geez so far. at least i havent seen any.

77accord...welcome to 1gee. hope you have a great time here. do put up pics of your masterpiece when you have the time...regards, dev...

Curious they got chrome window winders (instead of plastic) & the trim round the bonnet release that Haridev had noted elsewhere !
Analogue clock where ours were standard "leafed" digital after '77
& the adjustable height headrests- Want to know how to modify mine to adjust !

Yet not the chrome wheel trim-rings.

I guess country that equipped with rear fog came with the weird bonnet release and the switch is up above the bonnet release? Or is that some Euro only thing? I've seen it in German 1g as well.

Anyway, thats 2800 miles clean, but still... 2800 miles??

Yes your '77 does look really clean too !
Relatively unusual to see the earliest ones.
Have you had it and/or other old Honda long?

And have you also found some '80-'81 plastic Frt wheel-arch liners to (try to) protect your repairs.

Woah more new members! :welcome: Welcome 77 Accord! That is a very clean car you've got there! Hatchbacks seem to be outnumbered quite a bit by the saloons in the rest of the world. Does that hold true in the UK? We seem to have way more hatchbacks in the US than sedans.

Hi Haridev,

Yes these rim are 120x4 and they fit the accord but they are 2mm outside the fenders ..my skills in panel beating or shape are no good ..Still looking for my ideal rims thou.BTW have u got panasports or minilites on your car? I love that wheel please fill me in.

Hey 2nd gen the 4 door did come to the UK but in the late 79 thru 81, but the 1st gen accord are rare to come by in the UK.

actually they are some made in the UK rims. anyway that is what the guy at the breakers yard told me. it has a weird emblem... some three circles and some form of reptile in it. il take some pics of it and post it the next time i go down during the holidays. however i have seen them in a show MB is Born. its a UK based show. and i saw them on a feature MGB V8. they did state that they were track wheels as they are light weights. the tyre shop guys told me that they were made sometime in the mid 70s. i got the set for a mere USD$80. however they were in a pathetic shape. it took a lot of sanding, cleaning and painting to get them looking good. still i guess i was lucky...regards, dev...

the car in the picture is an Austin Healey Sprite... at least i think so judging by wat is left of the nose as it could be an MG Midget as both had the same platform and were produced by British Leyland. Either way, judging by the origins of the car, i suspect the rims might be from UK as well....

anyone, do feel free to correct me k?

um... i think im pretty sure its either a 67' mg midget or a 67' austin healey sprite. in fact im rather sure it is the later. i think the previous owner couldnt get the correct spares for the little car in the states. there is a similar car 2 lanes away from my house and i believe it is the similar car.

anyway, lets see if this car,....

Yeah it's gotta be an MG or something. People always swap the motors out in them though. It's pretty common due to the perceived unreliability of the stock motor in those things. And people usually want moar powar!

haridev
11-02-2008, 10:55 PM
MGs, Austins or the better known Morris as i said were all british leyland cars. their engines were great. in fact the MG B had an overdrive which was a simple electrical toggle switch on the dash. cool stuff. not to mention they drove really well. sadly British cars are known for leaking oil from every moving part. if there is a gasket, oil would spit out. this is also seen in the older jaguars as well. however there are newer gasket kits with higher quality material. it seems to hold up better than the older stuff. i believe, they still make original panels at the old factory in England. and parts could be easily ordered of the model magazines... cool!!

as for power, yes datsun might squeeze a little more power but the main thing is reliability... i just wish it were restored..

regards, dev...

And the fact that Datsun used to build some Austin cars under license with their 1000-1400cc engines of the 60's & 70's being closely related to the Austin/Morris A-series engines as a result... Do like the package of the Sprites even if some of their detail design was pretty basic.
