Hey guys I am new here, and I am trying to learn about these accords.
My friend has an 86 Honda accord dx. Has 55k mi on it but won't pass emissions. nox = 3.20 out of 2.50 limit. I have checked the many vacuum lines but have not seen any leaks. I have been reading up on the idle adjustment on this forum. As the idle is to low on the car, sometimes it will hesitate then die when taking off. Driving down the street it is fine. I just posted this up for any other random hints or tips.

Check the operation of the EGR valve. The vacuum lines going to it may be cracked.

Awesome, well upon further inspection I found out the car has no cat. converter on it...wtf? So the carb being too lean must of tore it up. Either way the carb needs a rebuild. Found no external vac leaks. Oh and any recommendations to where I can get a rebuild kit for the carb?

I know Autozone has a rebuild kit. You will have to special order it though.

Alright so my friend ended up getting the carb rebuilt by a Honda/Acura "Specialist" and she got it back today and the damn thing still stalls and the guy that rebuilt it wants more money to fix it. I am going to do a tune up and change the fuel filter on it, I have not seen any vacuum leaks. I do know that when you pump the brakes at idle and a/c is on, the car will stall. Bad brake booster?

Awesome, the car passed emissions finally. It did get new plugs and wires. Runs better and seems to get better as it's driven, after all it was bought from an old man that just putted around town in it. Car stalls alittle bit when it's cold (I need to adjust the idle) Hesitates a little bit when taking off, not always though and the other day it was surging as I was pulling onto the freeway (wtf?) So Ima search around this site.

Still sounds like the EGR valve is sticky or something.
