I'm guessing you mean straight pipes as in header, piping, muffler, and nothing inbetween?

If so, that always sounds bad ass if you can handle the noise all the time.

I have 2 inch pipe from the header to the muffler with no cat, or resonator, and it is loud as hell. It got me kicked out of a town, pulled over, and tons of complaints. Mind you I have a big 'ol cannon strapped to the back. If I can get my cam working I'll get a sound clip.

yeah if you have the tip out beyond the rear bumper it is not super loud in the car. but the people behind you are miserable. I had a 24 inch smitthys type glass pack in the middle of the car and strieght pipe the rest of the way, it sounds great in the car but it is loud on the highway. I will not be using that set up for long. Instant T car trouble if they get behind you.

i had straight exhaust to a fart can for awhile on my accord....it sounded decent but droned too much on the highway. If you dont mind the noise i say go for it.

I give a shit about the enviroment, but header and pipe are just to loud. I run a 4-2-1 header, magnaflow hi flow cat, a spoon rezzie, a dc can, and have it laced up with 2.25 stainless pipe. From 1500 to 2500 rpm its ok, 2500 to 3000 rpm its loud, and 3000 and up its just rude. The only thing that sux about the whole set up is I have no way to shut the damn thing up when the cops get on my tail. IMO dont go just straight pipe. Forget about the ppl behind you save you ear drums.
