Interesting article on Jalopnik about a race from Berkeley to Los Angeles. The trick is that you can't run your vehicle on anything petroleum based. The last car I expected to see was a 3gee Accord... Pretty cool. I guess they have some sort of device that burns pretty much any biomass that... well burns. And it converts it into Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide... Don't ask me how it works, I have no idea.

The gasification idea sounds great to All Power Labs, so they put together this '86 Accord with hacked ECM that allows switching between gasoline and "any solid carbonaceous material." Yeah, I think the idea is merely energy independence. People seem to get that confused with Global Warming, which this event is not really taking into consideration.
