View Full Version : A 3gee that runs on anything...

Interesting article on Jalopnik about a race from Berkeley to Los Angeles. The trick is that you can't run your vehicle on anything petroleum based. The last car I expected to see was a 3gee Accord... Pretty cool. I guess they have some sort of device that burns pretty much any biomass that... well burns. And it converts it into Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide... Don't ask me how it works, I have no idea.

This is the website for the team who is doing it. No mention of the Accord yet. But looks like they're still working on it.

The gasification idea sounds great to All Power Labs, so they put together this '86 Accord with hacked ECM that allows switching between gasoline and "any solid carbonaceous material." Unfortunately, even after an all-out 24-hour thrash before the race, the bugs hadn't all been worked out and the Accord wouldn't be making the race… this time. Check out the power-window motor that runs the fuel-feeding auger.

lol wut
idk how it's really a terrific idea if the byproducts are H and CO. the H is no problem, but CO isn't much better than current. although i guess since it's sans petroleum, it's blessed now..

Yeah, I think the idea is merely energy independence. People seem to get that confused with Global Warming, which this event is not really taking into consideration.
