Alright I have a quick question, I currently use 20w-50 in my 88', and I was wondering if maybe I could upgeade to 10w-40 or something along those lines, now the thing is I have around 225,000 miles on the car, would switching to that for an oil change be bad? I already leak oil from my distributor cap cause an o-ring I can't find anywhere to purchase and replace (if anyone can help me with that to I'd really be happy), but that's the only leak... So I figure a thicker oil really isn't as needed.. Any advice?

I have 235,000 and use Penzoil high milage 5W30 and lived in Florida for 15 years. Just make sure you change the oil every 3,000 miles. I'm usually somewhere in between 3-4 thousand.

191,000 miles and i'm using 5w-30 Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic. My oil leaks actually stopped after I switched to the high mileage oil. My gas mileage also went up.

20w50 is on the thicker side of oil I would run in these cars. Since your in GB I think you are fine since it rarely gets cold enough. Just let it run 2-3 minutes on a very very cold day in the morning if you need to use it. At this point I don't see any reason to goto 10w40 oil.

As far as the distrib O ring dealer should have one or order one for you. There pretty cheap and a common leak path on Honda's. I use a little permatex on the housing as well for xtra insurance keeps oil off the clutch.

yeah sounds like thick oil...i use 5-30 semi syntetic...i get it for free but mine burns like a quart every 3k. so by the time i change my oil it already needs a fill up...i just put in like 4.5 quarts...so i dont run too low
