Painted dashes make you look like a ghetto 16 yr old. In a few years you'll realize the error of your ways, and try to correct it by finding unpainted parts.

huh... how odd. I bought a blue dash off ebay to replace my slashed up black dash. I remember painting it black ,and it looks exactly like stock. I guess I'm just a ghetto sixteen year old that can't find a black dash.

Oh, I thought you meant bright colors like yellow, blue, or red. Those look okay, but I kinda doubt they'll hold up as well as the real deal.

Technically so was mine, but some asshole thought it would be cool to put out cigarettes with it before I bought it. hence why I was forced to buy a blue one.

Pico your dash is teh sexyness.

you need to use the correct dash paint, look at eastwood .com, you are supposed to use the cleaner, then the prep, then the paint, their stuff is permanent.

yeah pico's is nice. as for not holdin up, any paint can be scratched or scraped but if its done right with care it will hold for years and then maybe just a touch-up job. i painted my girls interior about 2 years ago and it still looks like it did when it was put in. as for the initial post, it wasnt about painted dashes as a whole i know a lot of guys have em. i was talkin about the kind of paint, seriously looks like stone when used with a gray primer and feels like a fine grit sandpaper.

anyone think the cluster cover would look cool wrapped in leather with a black dash? i was going to have my teg wheel wrapped anyway eventually. i can do the cover, but i'll let the local upholstery shop do the wheel, 40 bucks wrapped and stiched in black leather.

What about getting the whole dash covered in suede? That would be pretty sweet!

suede is cool, but if it gets wet from anything, it gets ruined.

i've thought about it,it would have to be completly dismantled, the dashes will come apart, but you have to remove the plastic welds holding sections together, then upholster sections, and not suede that stuff is a nightmare, best to use artificial leather,it's eaisier to stretch, like what honda used to upholster the vinal from the factory.

yep. ..but that's like me arguing with my wife about getting her hair done for a couple hundies, only to have it look like nothin was done after about a week.

Tweed is a pain in the ass to keep, but looks soooooooo sweet when done right (and kept clean).
