Solution to peely interior chrome...

Looks like these guys can fix that peely chrome trim for your interior. I know my 1gee's door panel chrome is peeling. I'd love to pull it off and send it in for rechroming. That would look bling bling!

I wonder if they can rechrome the rubber roof strips too. Mine need some serious re-stretching.

your roof weather strippings need stretching??? mine shrunk too but i always thought mine got vandalized.(cut at the ends) hehe.... now i know im not alone. i have yet to find a 1gee in my life with the chrome on the weather stripping still on. this goes for as far as i can remember.

as for the shrunk weather strippings, i found it far far easier to get it from an abandoned JDM at my VW mechanic. i paid him sum USD$4 and took it. (with the chrome ends as well) it hadnt shrunk and was in great shape, apart from the fungus and the chrome trim with was virtually absent. however, the ends covered by the chrome plate ends, still had its chrome. i realised the chrome used was just a form of foil! this was then coated by a thin layer of plastic. this is NO WAY that cheapo stuff would last the test of time.

as for the DIYing it. i always imagine getting some of those aluminium/chrome sheet like tape (used to gag people in highjack movies....john dont get any ideas). then cutting it to suit the strips on the door sides and such. i think if done patiently, it would turn out well. i did the same with some wood panelling vinyl i got for my mercedes. word of advice. dont bother with blades or such. get a scalpel and a scalpel holder from a local pharmacy. hold it like a pencil and very carefully cut the strips out. it might take some practice to use a scalpel but it would be ok after a while. in my case i guess my surgery practice showed some 'practical' use this time. (again john....dont get any ideas....haha.. ) regards, dev....

I cotnacted those plastic chromers in Mission some time last year. They are very expensive. Expect to pay around the same it would cost to get some bumpers done for just a few interior bits.

Good for badges & other rigid plastics, but I wouldn't have thought Vacuum-Metalizing like that would work on rubber bits like the roof weld-channel trims ...
& 'builders' aluminium tape isn't very flexible either.
But I have seem thin chrome tapes sold with pinstriping tapes which I thought would be ideal.

Do you think Accord Sedan or especially Civic wagon roof trims might be longer which could be trimmed down to fit Accord hatches?
