for those who have non functional A/C,after looking at the evaporator box,it looks like it would be very easy to put a heater core in there instead, so if you are planning to get rid of your ac,take out the original heater core, install it in the evaporator core box, then just short lengths of hose to connect to the heat valve. this way if it goes out, just disconnect two hoses,a few bolts to drop out the box,and change it. plus it has a drain to keep a failed core from destroying your carpet. I even think the two holes in the firewall are spaced close enough for the heater core tubes to stick right out.

Good idea. I definitely like the drain hose option.

nice but then you can't turn the heat down :D

sure you can,the air flows from the blower through the ac evaporator then straight through the heater core, after it goes through the heater core,it flows through the air doors, etc. all you are doing is moving the heater core upstream about a foot. the temp is also controlled by the water valve, you would still use the water valve, just need to make the hoses from it slightly longer.

The temp is not just controlled by the water valve. It's also controlled by a flap that bypasses the heater core for fresh air. That's why you can get cold air instantly.
