haha i was just thinking that ^, for the brake lights, do they all stay on? if so it's prolly your brake switch at the pedal

no the single brake light in the rear window stays on just like the rest of the brake lights do, and when i step on the brakes it gets brighter. ???????

Sounds to me like you have an incorrect bulb in one or more places in the rear brake lights. This would cause power from the dimmer light filament to short to the brake light filiment in the bulb. If you put a running light bulb where a brake light bulb goes you could have this problem.
