on my 87lxi Im swapping out the ngine for a 88 and when i pulled the hose off the tstat snout it pulled the hose barb out with it so I cant reuse it. I left the 88 snout on, the only difference being the thermoswitch on the snoth itself. What would happen if I bypassed the switch and plugged 12 into 3 or just capped them both. I cant find the vacuum diagram on the board so maybe someone else knows what the purpose of that switch is and if its needed for adequate driving or mainly for emissions?

If that's the one that goes to the distributor, it's for cold start timing advance. It advances the timing a little to make cold starting easier. Unless you live in Alaska you probably won't need it.
