Well ive decided to experiment with carbon fiber for the first time since i found some in the garage a few days ago. I noticed that its much harder to lay up to get it right...but i think it came out pretty good...what do you guys think? all they need is some clearcoat to get it nice and shinny:)

in all honesty i would have just got a cf sticker since it looks more like wank factor instead of having the strength or light weight advantage. but that's just my opinion. it looks good though :P

lol i know some guy that carbon fibered the whole front of his car. like made a mold with all the body parts on the car (bumper, fenders, hood, and headlights. It was for his integra he made into a drag car. so all he had to do was undo like 6 latches and the whole front came off so he could work easier.

I wanna carbon fiber this bitch out. Ima hit up ebay and get some vinyl.

What about whole headlight covers to match carbon fiber hoods?

lostforawhile
12-22-2008, 05:35 PM
they would look good even without the carbon fiber hood, the early models have a pattern in the headlights that looks almost like carbon fiber from the factory it would match the early corner markers.

I'll check tomarrow cuz i still have my front bumper so i'll see how close it is. Also the JDM rear bumper is a close resemblance of accord rear just the exhaust is on the left

very nice work.

i like the idea someone brought up about full c/f headlight covers to match the c/f hoods.

for the gloss, do you think instead of clearing it, it might look better if you just wetsand and polish up the clear gel/resin? Those do look badass either way.

Good to see you're thinkin c/f.:stick:

Sorry guys i thought i had posted the price already. Well these things take a rediculous amount of time and patience to lay up right, trim, drill, file, test to fit and polish the finished product. Most of it has to be cut and trimmed carefully by hand. So going by the amount of work and materials that goes into each set, im putting the price at $75.00 plus shipping. Now for the time being, I'm making the first few sets and selling them only at the May meet here i Cali. After that i will be making more sets for those of you from out of state to ship. So just be patient if you want a set

I think they would look best with pre facelift corner markers, the pattern in the lens matches perfectly. They can be shined up like new with some plastx polish, 86-87 corners, carbon fiber headlight covers and grill ends all work perfectly together, the pattern is so much like factory, are you using a clear with UV resistance? thats the only thing I would worry about, if you seen a non cleared carbon fiber hood in the sun after a while, you know what I mean

yeah i agree but ill be rocking the 88-89 jdm corners:). and about the UV..im using regular clear epoxy. im aware of hoods fading and yellowing out..even some of the high end carbon fiber hoods tend to yellow and fade. on my very first attempt at these carbon fiber eyelids i used a clear UV resistant gelcoat and then resin thinking it wouldn't yellow out..but it did eventually. So i just went with regular marine epoxy..the only thing ill be doing is polishing and applying some wax. Im sure any duplicolor can clear would work. Ill consider clearcoating them for you guys with Premium high end clearcoat but the price will go up obviously.
