Okay, so i found a dc strut bar for a 88-91 civic, and was wondering if that year civic is the struts that fit our fronts? And how much shorter is the engine bay strut-to-strut wise?

I have access to a welder, and time to mod one if it comes close. more or less im looking for a bar that will clear the engine.

I remember reading a while back some sort of older civic 3 piece bar kit would work wit some mods...

^^ i kno, but id rather just spend time making plates, not the whole shabang lol

edit: i might go ghetto mock up some plates wit cardboard...

they help a little but not much on a 3g since there stronger then the newer cars ... like alot of civics roofs will crack if they auto X without all them C piller bars and what knot lol... 3g FTW

Tdurr
12-28-2008, 07:07 PM
^^ didnt kno bout them cracking. lol. i need to stop my 3gee from flexing. as soon as i get sway/strut bars and stiffer springs on the front ill be super happy.

Edit: also, ill be picking up tie bars (F+R) for a 93 accord this week and will let u guys kno if the front one will fit w/o alot of trouble.

So i got the rear bar on, only one hole tho. i gotta get the plate welded. Pics will be up tomorrow cuz im at a friends house now. lol. All you gotta have to get the front +rear on is a good welder+a good cutting tool. Front is gonna be tricky cuz i gotta get wires outta the way.

Didn't you have to cut the rear jack support to fit that?

As far as strut bars go, I have one of the few remaining Ractive front bars. Direct bolt-on for the 3g. Sadly they haven't been made for years :(

I also have a "Justin" rear strut bar... basically a modified 4th gen bar. Works nicely, hard as hell to install.

Yeah i had to sadly cut up the jack support a bit but still strong enough to jack up the car still.

I don't see the point in using a lower rear tie bar on our cars. They make them for the civic because the LCAs attach to the unibody instead of a crossmember. You're probably going to be bending control arms before getting any notable flex in that crossmember. Looks nice though.

I havent bent nothing. Like i said i havent notice anything just looks nice. if you have a extra 20 bucks then go for it. maybe if you get a Rear strut bar then go ahead.

hehe... need to get another inch cut then get some welding done. The fronts need to have the tabs cut off like the rear ones closer to the hole tho, and then welded on going like 2-4 cm on each side. The center hole is fine.

Hope this helps someone.
