So I changed the fluid in the manual transaxle in my 88 because it had a chatter unless I pushed in the clutch. So it's been quiet for about 2 weeks and today the damn thing is makin noise again. I put new valvoline 10w-30 motor oil back into the transaxle. I just dont see how the fluid would help only for a week? Unless one of the bearing is just cashed. Any ideas on what I should do? I'm going to fix it either way but I just don't want to have to take it in if I dont have to.

Check your fluid level.

Ill check it 2maro and make sure. Could there be a leak? I mean I must've drained close to 2 quarts out when I changed it.

i think it takes around 2.5 quarts....if just take off the fill plug and i fill it from the speed sensor...and you know you filled it up to the right level till it stars spilling out of the fill hole

I checked the fluid and it was up to the hole. I'm not sure where to proceed from here.

I would check to be sure that the inspection cover/splash shield is tight and not damaged. Also make sure the clutch release arm is returning all the way with the clutch released.

Well I'm thinkin the input bearing is shot. It hasnt been doing it lately so fuckin I'm just going to drive it til this spring til I put in a new clutch and then I'll prolly take the case apart then while I got it out.
