Hey guys I've got a problem with my car. Its an 89 LX. I'm thinking the starter or alternator are done for?

A couple days ago my battery(650amp) drained (completely?), i charged it overnight slapped it back into the car just this afternoon...go in turn the key to the 2nd position, for the windows and what not...nothing comes on. Turn to third position. No crank at all. Any ideas? If i remember correctly however the alternator is 20k+mi old? and the starter...we've never replaced having this car since april 2007. There's a story to what's happened prior to all of this recharging and all but i'll save it for later if it'll make a difference.

:sadwave:

forgot to say i tightened the battery connections good. That's how my battery drained last thursday though...the neg connection was loose and i had my lights and wipers on all day so i guess that contributed to draining the batt+ shouldn't it crank if nothing's wrong with the alt./starter?

Are you getting any interior power? Could be that the battery is dead.

I forget whether or not the interior light in the middle lights. but i remember the radio doesnt turn on or anything. I'll check fuses later...it's fuckin cold. And im not too sure which fuse to check either?

Check the ignition fuse I would think if you have lights coming on in the interior then it could just be a fuse.

oh wow. i love you. it never crossed my mind to check the fuse box. let alone under the main fuses. my BATTERY FUSE IS BLOWN. going to my local auto parts store to buy a new one. Will report back on results.

Thanks guys. I'm still learning as i go. So sorry for seeming like a newb.

And yes all interior lights worked. radio and windows dont however. and no trunk light either. Anyways off for a new fuse! hopefully it solves the problem.

Yup...needed the battery fuse. Should have checked there to begin with.

Future reference: if your car doesn't crank at all. Check the battery fuse. W/O it your car wont crank at all.
