I got a front a rear strut bar for a 4g accord, and decided to make it fit, cut the bracket in half and welded it together. Can be done in less then 30 min even if u wanted to paint it.

I got the rear strut bar all welded up nice like... pics:

^^ there is a nut on each side, loosen it and then turn the bar and it either pushes the struts out or pull on them.

and rendon, i actually can feel a difference, i have it pre-loaded.....
but im still gonna get a vigor sway bar.

I think he means is it better to tighten the bar so it pulls the towers together or loosen the bar so it pushes them farther apart?

codyJDM
05-23-2009, 11:26 AM
Push them away, it "preloads" the bar so it counteracts body roll most efficiently.

there's a front one, but no rear one.

The rear bar off a Vigor fits, but you have to modify the bushing brackets a little bit to make it fit. Nothing a couple minutes with a dremel can't fix.

06-30-2009, 08:19 PM

yep. When you find a vigor bar take everything. Including the endlinks and all the bushings.

I took the brackets for the vigor bar and redrilled the bolt holes so that they would fit the accord chassis. That allowed me to reuse the bushings from the vigor.

06-30-2009, 09:12 PM

Alrighty! Just back from the junkyard and found a 92' vigor with its rear sway bar. I kinda failed at preparation and only brought crescent wrenches cuz I thought that they were just bolts and nuts. EXCEPT most are hard to reach... and so I can't get any torque on them, but I borrowed a socket from the shop and got everything.

Here's my question: I got everything except the two brackets more towards the middle of the car. they had like 3 fatty bolts each that I couldn't get to the other side of them without dismantling more. Did I need those brackets? each had one bolt holding onto the sway bar.

I'm going to make it work somehow, just need some insight lol.

If you don't already have them then yes you need them. You can use the accord ones. You just have to cut the bushings bigger. I think it's easier to just use the vigor bushings though since you only have to modify the brackets a little bit to work.

07-02-2009, 09:00 PM
crap, So its better to take the brackets off the vigor and use those instead of the accord ones? That's what it sounds like most people did. Looks like i'll make another run into the junkyard and grab those.

And then i'll replace the accord stock ones with the vigors? so it'll fit the bushings correct? I know I can assemble the rest, just gotta get my car elevated a bit. I've got a drill and a bunch of bits so I can redrill the holes.

yes. Since you have a DX you should just grab the vigor ones since your car doesn't have a rear sway bar. Meaning you have no accord brackets.

you just redrill the holes in the vigor brackets so they line up with the holes on the accord chassis. There's only two holes on the accord though, and 3 on the vigor brackets so one of the holes won't line up with anything.

Bleh, I went back the junkyard and got the brackets no prob. Figured out where to drill and went ahead mount them in the correct 2 spots available. But its interferring with the axle? Or something.... Not enough room between the bracket and the frame/axle. Sooo annoying.... Here's some crappy cell phone pics of what I mean. I tried bending back the brackets a bit but they are seriously tough. (prolly a good thing lol) Any suggestions?

do they rub when the car is flat on the ground or only when it's jacked up? I remember my sway bar rubbed when I jacked the car up, so I thought it didn't fit at first.

yeah try doing it that way. Actually I think what I did was jack the car up, put it on jack stands, and then jack up the wheel knuckle so that it moved that part of the suspension out of the way enough to bolt the bar on.

Holy jumpin monkeys! Yeah its defintiely a night and day difference over NO sway bar. LOL
I got it done after ALOT of modifying the brackets. One side fit fine after redrilling the holes but the other wasn't... Like a mutant or something lol, after an hour or two JUST for that bracket I got it to finally hold everything. and then I bolted everything back up.

Its sexy how it handles now; except on the right side, the bar is right next to my exhaust pipe and on my bumpy gravel driveway it makes noise as it bumps against it. (going 60 on the road its fine though) whatev. I guess I'll call a muffler place and see if they can just re-pipe that one little section before the muffler as to not hit the sway bar. Other than that she's lookin good. ^^
I would post some pics but i'm too lazy to upload to photobucket rite now...
