Bought Accord LXi 88 on ebay for $380

I resently bought Accord LXi auto 88 on ebay for $380 for my girl. Ended up spending another $600 for trasportation gas and parts. so the car now stands at $1014. My girl loves it she thinks it have nice fliping eyes. :cheers:

About the car it was in a very bad running condition. The injectors were leaking and a lot of gas was coming out of the injector’s rail, and boy when we cranked the car I thought it was going to catch a fire. The guy who was selling the car didn't care much about it so when it went bad he decided to sell it. I thought it was going to be a easy fix, WOW "jumping jack and his mother" every time I was installing a new injectors o- ring still was leaking gas bad. Finally after going to O-Reilly auto parts I found a o-ring the brown ones for gas and they had only 3 of those and with one black one I manage to fix the car with a small leak to drive it. Another thing the CV boot was torn and it was clicking really bad. For some time I drove the car I thought it was going to fall apart. The worst was the breaks. NO what so ever !!!!!!!:uh: the car was in North Carolina and I’m down in New Orleans 700ml. Driving this bitch was an ADVENTURE OOOOOO YES it took me 21 hours by bus and 2o hours driving the car back AND IT MADE IT :cheers:

the carper got so much stain i had to wash it with two three chemicals

the stereo was the best working equipment in the car pioneer head and speakers. it took me 700 ml from north carolina to louisiana to learn how it works some os the options hehehehe

on my way back after 20 hours of agony driving with 50/55 mph the car started to die on me when i press the gas over 50 mph. i was 20 ml from new orleans and realy didn't mater b/c i was almost home.

well if you can't get it clean enough, I would just consider getting a new one from ebay or some online car carpet store. I think you can get them for about $100. If it's clean enough for you now, that's even better. Get yourself a good set of floor mats, and you'll be golden.

today i was trying to deal with the engine problem right after 2500 rpm the car starts to die and i noticed gas smell and leak. WOOOOWWWW

when to to honda dealer to see if they have the green o- ring seals. They didn't. The guy gave me same black one and said that he have been driving his integra 91 for 5 year with this black ones and never had seen something like mine. Mine is from Auto Zone parts

I think the stock finish looks pretty good with that blue. Maybe clean them up and touch up the stock paint, but I'd keep the color.

It needs new paint job any way. I do like the blue color. I'm thinking to change the axle. Front left one b/c it rattles and repair the right axle boot is torn. it needs left front spring. most probably i'll take the spring from Junk yard. For the axle I bough one on ebay.com for $14 brand new, the guy who was selling it was going out of buisnes.

Head light was really bad and rusty, took that as well. i got from J/Y one like new and it works WOOW

I'm still having problems with the engine going over 2500 RPM. In parking no promles at all. Once on the road it suck big time. i think it is something with the air flow, to lean or something, b/c the car only jerks till it goes to over 2500 RPM.

trying to fix the idle Sensor if that helps to fix the jerking. took some parts from J/Y today. this little part expands when the cooling temperature rise. i'll see tomorrow when i instal it

That little idle control tring is working fine, i did by pass it by putting a plate on the back blocking the idle control and the symptoms are still there

Get on the bandwagon with twoloud and you can have the engine in that civic in your 3gee. Im pulling the engine and tranny all all that shit out of my car to do my bswap so of you need anyparts. let me know. i dont have any induction parts cos mine was a carbed model but i could sell you the tranny and clutch cable so you can do a 5 speed swap. If you need a head i have a rebuilt one.

idle is OK, only when the RPM goes over 2500 and when it downshifts it jerks
bad. I thing it gets lean gas or too much air in the engine. I did bypass by blocking both sensors and it still have the same symptoms.

The alternator is for the Carborator model. They gave me the wrong one at store. I took some pictures try to bolt it on i couldn't and there i found the problem. I returned that one and ordered from ebay.com one for $14. At the store was $65. The one i got now it has four connecting holes/pins the carb one had only three.
About the A/T fluid i will change it and i'll let you know what happend. It works pretty good so far, but i 'll take your advice and get some Honda A/T Fluid. Thanks Again

yup they help a bit but not when you get pulled over...i get pulled over for tinting my front windows...next time im just going to get dark rear windows and lighter tint in the front

Here in New Orleans i see daily people been pulled over for dark windows. Some how i don't like tinted windows unless you have to hide something. My stereo was $200 back 5/10 years ago. Now may be $25 :toilet: But wait, why pay more when still does the job good.

When I start it cold, it immediately revs to about 4k and holds it there for about a minute, then it goes and remains is a rolling/hunting idle from about 1k to 2k. It's very rhythmic. The electronic air controller is new and the 1 minute of high revs makes me think it's the fast idle control valve as that part is actuated by a built in thermostat connected to the coolant lines. If that isn't the problem then I'll begin checking the vacuum lines...unless someone knows what better to do? I'm all ears.

Check the Fast Idle Control first there is a small part which will expand when hot coolant comes in to contact, also check if there is enought coolant in the system.

Also check the Electronic Air Controller if coolant passes by. This means that the coolant is reaching to EAC from the ICV. also check the Throttle Angle Sensor. And then you can check the vacum lines. Mine was very little hole you could miss it very easy. It was pure luck that i found it after days of hitting my head in the wall. Good luck and keep me posted

I would come and take some photos but you are 2500 miles away. Last time it took me 3 days drive from CA to LA on I-10.

Hi Mark Good to see you again. In '03 i found Nissan Sentra '96 burned and the only two rear tires in good shape. Tire are Kumo 14"/175/65. I was skeptical at first. But this Kumo brand last me over 6 yers, 25k Miles, 3 cars and still going. rear ones are the original honda. Once i get money i'll buy the whole set.

It needs some rust repair a good paint job and a mufler. I don't have the funds to finish it up. Instead we drive it everywhere and enjoy it. So far i've spend $1049 on it. May be someday till then :cheers:

just read the whole thread, and it gave me this good, happy feeling the whole time! i love these cars... they're just good cheap fun cars that never seem to give anybody any trouble. old and admittedly a little ugly but they just seem to have like their own personality. just happy cars i guess.

ok a couple things- i love how the nissan wheels look! you should really try to snag another pair to complete the set. they look great.
also, take a plunger to the driver side rear door dent. just squish the (preferrably poop-free) plunger against the middle of the dent till there's suction then pull back and the dent should come out at least a little. it's worked for me before.
