View Full Version : Tranny Removal/Clutch Change Woes

I have done many mods to my BMW. exhaust, intake, all the basic shit. i even did the VANOS(timing chain/unit) in the summer. went well for the most part

I would say i have moderate mechanical skills. mostly under the hood not under the car.

How hard is it for me with my experience and my buddy with very little experience to change the clutch. i know friends of minethat hve done it with very little problem. it seems like a big job to me.

VANOS is not a mod, btw.

The clutch is really easy, at least to me it is. You have to pop the low ball joints and tie rods, and you can tuck away the axles when you're ready to remove the trans. Then just remove the lower mount, rear mount, starter, dog bone mount, clutch cable, shifter, and then the bolts between tranny and block. Most of the time it slides right out after wards.

make sure to pick up an excedy clutch if you want something better than stock

hahahaha i LOVED MINE. up until i...

saw aftermarket and OE part pricing
had to do even the sligtest work to it was a bitch
hadto pay crazy money for somene else to work on it
and when i got my DA Integra last summer..


hah now i just love it
