Pico, you should just go do it. Seriously, people come to autocross here and just watch. And by the first run they are wishing they had entered! You've got nothing to lose by running, and you can still watch the rest of the field while you're staged! :)

what time are you going to heading out to Sac.?

Strugglebucket
03-14-2009, 11:54 PM
oh man, I'm going to have to leave at some ungodly hour like 5am or so.

I'm in SM class so it has me working in the first run group and driving in the second run group. 1st car out is 8am and it says to be there 1 or 1 1/2 hour early to walk the course, get tech'd and all that. Online directions say it will take me an hour to get there so I'll give myself an hour and a half in case I get lost or there's traffic.

I'm guessing I'll actually be running sometime between 9:30 and 11am?

What sucks is my car would be perfect for Street Touring if not for the camshaft and modified transmission. But there's no way I'm ever changing those back.

Sorry you guys couldn't make it. It was way too early. I think I got 2 hours of sleep, 'cause I'm used to working nights and it's almost impossible for me to fall asleep early.

Here's my times!

1st run: 62.021
2nd run: 63.630 (was a 61, but almost spun out and hit 2 cones so +2 sec)
3rd run: 60.895
4th run: 60.338

On all of my runs there was always somthing that went awry...or askew, or afoul. Popped out of gear or missed a gear, went into a corner way too fast and slid around like crazy, etc. But my car felt great. I just have to become less of a hack driver.

And you guys should definately try to come out and run sometime. You get to drive like a total madman and not worry about crashing or getting thrown in jail. It's great.

I'd be running in the afternoon for this one, so I just have to get there and get registered before 12pm. If I can convince my friend to run his Focus I might go earlier, since he'd be in H stock.

I'll have to check those seats out if I get a chance. I saw maroon ones on a 4ws when I was there last time but they looked like they were biodegrading.

You don't have to sign up, you can just show up and register. At the Sacramento event they would give you a paper with numbers to tape on your car if you didn't have your own numbers. SFR is probably the same, but you might want to bring some painter's tape just in case you have to make your own. My wife made some numbers for me out of some of that magnetic vinyl.

It's $35 entry fee plus another $15 for a temporary SCCA membership. If you get an actual SCCA membership you can register your car online and you don't have to pay the extra $15.

You'd need to figure out what class you're in so you know whether to show up for the morning or the afternoon runs.

Most of the info you can find here: http://www.sfrscca.org/content/view/7538/177/

If you have more questions just let me know.

Man, today was brutal. I got beat downs from both the sun and the track.

It was super hot (at Candlestick?!), and the course was a bit trickier than the one I ran at Mather. I DNF'd three times ON THE SAME CORNER:mad: And I forgot to register under Novice class:lol:

Oh well, I got some more practice.

Hey Not trying to thread jack but I think this would be a good post to add some info, so there is 2 auto-x groups in Santa Rosa one is a Porsche club and the other is a group called ESCA , both are 30$ a day and you get between 6-10 runs a day. Esca you need to join but Porsche is a show up and race. next one is ESCA on aug 1st, then porsche is aug 8th.

Strugglebucket
07-20-2009, 07:19 PM
Are you going to the events? I could probably make it to one or both if the ESCA membership isn't too much.

Ju_S12_Turbo
07-21-2009, 09:02 PM
I don't race my accord at ESCA but I do at Porsche. esca is 30$ a year and you can have ride alongs, but you need a guest pass to bring a friend. Porsche is free minus the track fee, but you can't have ride alongs. Oh not sure if you saw aug 8th is a Porsche so I will be there in the accord

Strugglebucket
07-21-2009, 10:38 PM

Auto-x this weekend ( Esca June 26th) then Porsche (July 10th) then ESCA again (july 17th)

Now Porsche change their rules so you have to be a esca member, good news is esca allows you to sign up at the auto-x where as before they didn't.

Ju_S12_Turbo
02-26-2011, 10:26 PM
Starting back up! March 26th! it is the first Porsche event of the year. You need to be a Esca member to join the fun, but it's only 18$ for the whole year. Super cool group to run with and as long as you got, all lug nuts/studs, no MASSIVE wheel bearing movment, a battery tie down and a Drivers license you are good to go! Here is ESCA's website http://www.empiresportscar.org/
